A family member? A school friend? A dog? A stranger? well if a dog didn’t like me then i would find a way to make sure the dog likes me. i’m talking about a really close friend. I'll have to echo mikegarrison's advice and just move on. But not the crying part. That's for sissies. I think it's a waste of time trying to fight an uphill battle re. winning someone's love/admiration. Plenty of fish in the sea. Really. Some of them will be WAAAAAAY better than the one who doesn't care for you. When I was a kid, 4th grade, I used to like this girl a lot. She didn't like me as much. Don't know why. She was insane, probably. My heart hurt. Then, a week or so later, this hot chick, half-White half-Chinese moves into the apartment complex. We became really good friends and my first crush. A few years later, she became Miss Teen Hawaii. When we first saw the newspaper article about it, my brother and sister said, "Holy shiite! Wasn't that your first girlfriend, Wolfie?" Now, she lives in Texas. So, that first girl I really liked, the insane one? I have even forgotten her name. LOL!

any tips for writing a good essay for scholarships? I got a lot of scholarships. I don't remember writing any essays. I must have though. Maybe the standards were low back then? LOL! I just remember thinking that my record spoke for itself. Maybe I wrote something stupid like, the most efficient way to mow the lawn. I don't know. The only essay I vividly remember writing was one where I said, "Imagine Huckleberry Finn at your school. Shucks, that's me." At the college I went to, they have a lot of endowments and thus, lots and lots of scholarships. Many of them, I didn't even have to apply for. They just showed up on my student bill. Oh, I may have had to complete some paperwork saying "I accept this scholarship" or something like that.

any tips for writing a good essay for scholarships? A good college essay is not like a resume. Many people make the mistake of either describing a sequence of events in their lives and then summarizing the meaning or the lesson they learned from those events. Instead of a chronological narrative of your life, approach it more like a great instagram photo- a snapshot, an angle or a particular take that tells a story in a particular moment or says something special, unique or memorable about you or that situation using details about yourself to illuminate the meaning. Some applications give you more specific scenarios or guidelines, so you may have to conform to what they are asking, but generally you have some leeway in how you can respond. Figure out what that unique thing is for you personally and work on writing one really good essay that conveys who you are. You will most likely be able to use that essay, with only some slight modifications usually, to apply for lots of different scholarships. Have several people who know you and some who simply have good grammar and editing skills to read it for you and give feedback, but be sure that in the end, it reflects you and not them (but also understand the difference between being unique and authentic and weird!). Save the original on your computer, and use "save as" to create a copy that you can modify as needed when submitting various scholarship applications. This will preserve your original intact and help you keep track of changes you make (and what you submitted to whom. This is true for a resume, as well, but that may be for a later time.) There are tons of scholarships out there, many of which go unclaimed because they are not actively advertised or don't receive applications. There are scholarships for 1st generation students, people with specific majors or from certains states or geographic areas, gender or ethic/racial background and many other things that may apply to your situation. Search the internet, research foundations or service organizations (rotary clubs, kiwanis, etc), and contact local colleges near you, or colleges that you are interested in attending, to see if they have a scholarship office or service that can assist you in finding information or listings of available scholarships, and apply to every one that you can. Check for deadlines and apply early.

Lot of dead people would say otherwise. (If they could say anything.)

Time actually does heal all wounds. Also, it makes you forget what the hell you were hurt or upset by.
I swear to God (it's just an expression, I don't actually believe in God), I've had many disputes with various VT posters over the years and I've forgotten what 90% of the disputes were about.

Some people's names are colored because they are in a group, or have been given special dispensation by Odin.
