While being with the team they have had a good run in their domestic league. They sit 5th in the league with a 6/4 record but that was due to the teams poor performance in the first two games when she wasn't yet with the team. They also lost two other matches while she was starting, no doubt due to an adjustment period. Many on here (and I agree with them) think that going to Moscow was a mistake. The style of high ball offense that Russian teams run is counter-productive to the type of "low-fast" offense the USNT runs. During the Russian Cup, she was repeatedly benched or didn't start at all behind a very poor back-up setter. So she doesn't appear to be thriving with Dinamo Moscow. Which is not good going into the OG. It still remains to be seen if Poulter's run as starter during the World Cup was for training purposes or if she has indeed, against all odds, taken the starting setter position. I still think that Carlini will make the Olympic roster but whether she will be starting or not is still to be determined. Competition is a good thing as it makes the players work harder and I hope she continues to strive to be better. Her main criticism by some trolls on here is that her connection with the middle blockers in front on the A and B quick isn't good. Her sets to them on the slide are good because she sets the opposite very well. In fact...I think her setting behind her/over her head (to the right pin, on the slide and on the back 10/pipe/bic) is some of the best I have seen from any setter on the NT in quite a while. She also isn't afraid to really move the ball around which makes for a much less predictable offense. She is also the best blocking and defensive setter we have. She plays smart and has a really great volleyball IQ. She just reads the game very well. That should cover it all. I'm a fan of her and Poulter both. They are both young and hungry and could really take the USA to new heights in the coming quads. Thank you for this. Stinks to hear that's happening in an olympic year but hopefully she stays healthy and brings her A game for VNL. I watched Lloyd nullify her own team's ridiculously stacked offense the other week. Thank god we've moved on from that. I love Carli as an athlete and as a human. She is just past her prime. She was playing elite volleyball in 2016. She led her team to a Champions League Crown and a Silver Medal in the Club World Championships that same year. Truth be told she just hasn't been the same since her shoulder injury in 2017. I can see her retiring after this year. She and Gibbemeyer were both gunning for an Tokyo and both never got to where they needed to be for team USA. I enjoyed watching them and wish them the best.

I don't get Dinamo's decision of benching her over their obviously weaker backup. I wish Carlini stayed in Italy in a mid-level team. No offers from there?

How do you lead a team to a Champions League Crown and then have trouble either staying at Novara or at least getting picked up by another team in the same league? It mystifies me too.

Hey y'all so I haven't heard anything about Carlini in a while. For anyone who happens to know, how's she doing on her club team? They are both young and hungry and could really take the USA to new heights in the coming quads. I agree with everything u said and I’m a huge fan of Carlini. But, is she really the best blocking setter we’ve had? She is a plenty good enough blocker, but I feel like Lloyd was a very strong blocking setter. Trust me, I’d take Carlini over Lloyd any day, but I think Lloyd may have been a better blocker

So what is Larson going to do with her off time now that she is done with the club season? Most of her NT teammates are still playing for their respective clubs. Train and prep for the Olympics the whole time or something else?

From Monza Twitter today.
Waiting to embrace the American Kathryn Plummer, ready to arrive in Monza on Thursday, Carlo Parisi will be able to count on the returning Orthmann and Meijners, protagonists of performances of absolute value with their respective national teams for the Olympic qualifications, in addition to all the other components of the Monza roster.
