Well....at least this keeps the setter race entertaining. It would appear that Hancock and Seliger-Swenson are having more success than Carlini and Poulter with their respective teams.

I think Poulter is doing okay, her team is weak in the league, and they are actually doing much better compared to last season. Hancock has been setting her middles really well, but not very impressive other than that. Carlini needs to get out of Russia.

This season has been a nightmare for Carlini. Will definitely hurt her chances.

Carlini needs to get out of Russia. Yeah I agree. At this point she should just go back to the States and train in the NT gym. Her time would likely be spent better there. Either way she will learn from this failure. The best lessons come that way. It is just not good timing with this lesson coming in an Olympic year.

Could she be injured? Like not major but enough to just not start. Kazan is arguably the best team in the league.
Top 4: Uralochta NTMK, Lokomotiv Kaliningrad, Dinamo Kazan and Dinamo Moscow.

The decision to bench her makes no sense to me at all. They were playing Kazan (not a pushover team whatsoever) so it wouldn’t be right to field in a weaker setter.
Is she bad at the scrimmages? She can’t set her spikers HIGH AF enough? Is she injured?
So many questions.

Is Goncharova still out with her injury?

Is Goncharova still out with her injury? No. Goncha played earlier. I wonder if Carlini had offers in A1 but felt like being in the league of the team that kicked you out would add salt to the injury?

It was a good weekend all around for the USWNT players. Not too many bad outings. Some still aren't starting on their teams or were rested due to the strength of the opposition.
The second half of the pool phase of Champions League starts this week as well as the 8th finals of the CEV Cup and Challenge Cup.
Lots of good ball to be played!

I don’t update re: the Italian league girls cause I don’t watch it. 🤣 If anyone here watches the Italian league, please do update us. I’ve got Japan and Turkey covered and a little bit of Germany.

Babesinha, current starter setter, is definitely not weak. She was the starting setter for Russia in 2004 Olympics at the age of 20.
If Carlini doesn't perform well, she doesn't play.

Also, I wouldn’t say NT is great at training setters, I’d probably say they arent very good. Setter development IMO has been a weakness of program that has a lot of strengths.
