I normally can't stand biased announcers but I'm loving this female announcer lol. You can tell her heart bleeds blue and she's trying her best to stay neutral but can't help herself. Katie George went to Louisville. I doubt very much that she bleeds blue

Nah, this was a team win. Of course Kara is the horse they are going to ride, but there was a lot of other contribution. Yes, you may have noticed that Kentucky dug her and she hit out a bit more in that stretch run. Nothing away from Bajema, but this is not a one dimensional team. Niece and Hoffman also big in the stretch (and , of course Elle May's finish).

Crenshaw, again today, made some spectacular back-row digs and passes that kept key rallies alive. Mike loves Shannon

Wow, nice match Huskies. Watching this morning from Maui, looking forward to the Rainbow Wahine play later.
So what impressed?
- good, fast, clean start to the match -- finally
- excellent composure at the end of set 2, excepting three shanks in a row (arrrgh)
- Avie Niece played huge in a huge match; not sure we win without Avie
- the Huskies cannot win if Bajema even has just a fair match; guess what, she's been a beast in every postseason game
- I thought Powell had one of her best matches, showing off her all-around skills and nailing the door shut with a lethal dump
- overall Husky defense was solid; we're going to need it even more against Baylor
- some nice serving to get an excellent KY passing team out of system on a semi-regular basis; this will be the key against Baylor
What needs to improve?
- more consistent serve receive -- the drought the Huskies experienced in the first half of set 2 and most of set 3 had everything to do with bad passing
- today, the offense relied heavily on Bajema and Niece; tomorrow, we probably need at least a couple other players to hit efficiently and terminate, whether it's Drechsel, Hoffman, or Sanders
Very happy for this team!

Crenshaw, again today, made some spectacular back-row digs and passes that kept key rallies alive. Sorry to quote you on this, but Shannon was not good both on passing and defense. She got aced 3 times in the first three sets and only had one dig.

Washington is impressive. UK never seemed to get in a consistent zone like last year. Not sure why.

OK, I knew Bajema hit well, but .400 with Kentucky keying on her. Wow! and yes, the 11 service errors were critical, particularly in the second set. (OF course, the other side of that is the tough serving that won Kentucky the third)

Nah, this was a team win. Of course Kara is the horse they are going to ride, but there was a lot of other contribution. No other player got double digit kills. Both Hoffman and Dreschel hit sub .120. Niece did have a nice game. Kentucky lost because of Bajema's cross court shot. Not taking anything away from them, but they won because of her 24 kills, hitting .400, NOT because of a balanced attack. Lmao @ Washington fans

This was the type of match you want to see deeper in the tournament. Two teams playing high level volleyball, trading punches and playing some long, entertaining rallies. UW should savor this win (realistically, that won't be for very long given tomorrow's match). Cook and Co. have the Huskies exactly where they want to be, playing for a shot at the Final Four.
Baylor will be and should be favored tomorrow. So much firepower. I watched most of their match today and was impressed with their scary balanced offense and thought the setting by Lockin was very good. The question, in my mind, is what happens when a team puts a lot of service pressure on them? Don't really know how well they pass but I can't see how the Huskies win without aggressive serving. I do think the Huskies are a better team than Purdue, so there is hope. Should be a good one.

Washington is impressive. UK never seemed to get in a consistent zone like last year. Not sure why. UW dominated the ends of the sets they won: 1st set: 7 of 11 to close. 2nd set: 11 of 17 to close (even with the three shanks). 4th set: 5 of 6 to close.

Washington is impressive. UK never seemed to get in a consistent zone like last year. Not sure why. I didn't watch this match - and this analysis could be spot on. But Washington 'only' won 51.1% of the total points in the match. Kentucky won 51.8% of the points in the final 3 sets - of which Washington won 2 of the 3. From a gamescore perspective - this was a very even match that could have gone either way. To say that Washington was good and Kentucky was not good (not the words used here or necessarily the implication) could imply that normally Kentucky is a vastly better team (which I don't think anyone thinks is the case). This appears to have been a 50/50 matchup (that is how Pablo viewed it) where Washington played slightly better on this day and won. This very easily could have been a 2-2 match with a deciding 5th set coming up.

Yep, and this match was in some ways a microcosm of the season. Lots of tight sets pulled out in the last 10-15 points. Very few sweeps (for such a good team) because of UW's maddening inconsistency. But if the score is tied at 20, I generally like the Huskies' chances.
