Kentucky has been a program that keeps coming close to reaching its first Final Four ever. This could be their year as they don't have to face any traditional powers if they can get by the most historic program in this regional on Friday.

If UW plays at the top of their game, they can beat Kentucky. But I'm not comfortable enough to bet money on it. But I don't see anyone getting out of this regional except Baylor. The most interesting thing about the UW/Kentucky match may be the crowd, which could be nearly non-existent since it's the 2nd game of the day.

Mostly because position-by-position, I think Kentucky out matches Baylor. Kentucky just has a better supporting cast around their go-to hitter. Seeds notwithstanding, I think this is the most compelling Sweet 16 match-up. Both Kentucky and Washington have shown strokes of genius this season, and have looked pretty bad at times as well. Arguably the two most inconsistent teams left.

hmmm, I was going to vote for ilikecorn for the all volleytalk award, but I was waiting for him to give us a match thread for UW-Kentucky....oh well, guess we aren't important enough for him

These two teams match up interestingly. Each has a star 6-rotation senior OH and also have exactly 6 losses. Both lost to Utah this season (UW split) but beat South Carolina. On the other hand Creighton beat Kentucky and lost to UW, while Southern cal swept UW but lost to Kentucky. Makes the transitive property difficult to apply here. It'll be interesting to see which team(s) comes out and plays to its potential.

Making up things in your head is getting to become a habit for you. I complimented Kentucky; you decided (in your head) that I took a dig at Baylor for stating FACTS.
Kentucky has been building consistency as a Top 5-10 program for years. Pretend they haven't if you like.

These two teams match up interestingly. Between both there's lots of seeded wins (Wisconsin, Florida, Stanford, Purdue, Hawaii), each has a star 6-rotation senior OH and also have exactly 6 losses. Both lost to Utah this season (UW split) but beat South Carolina. On the other hand Creighton beat Kentucky and lost to UW, while Southern cal swept UW but lost to Kentucky. I meannnn I don't care if Plummer was injured in the Stanford match (ok I do cuz Im a KP Stan lol), but Washington made Stanford look like poopie.

Washington suffers from JHS (Jekyll & Hyde Syndrome). Sometimes even within a single match. At Utah, they won the first set comfortably, then got rolled by the Utes. In the tournament, they came a couple close plays of being behind South Carolina 0-2, but they won the first two sets, barely. Then pummeled Carolina in the third. When they are on, I agree, they could be Baylor. But they also need to be on in order to beat Kentucky. They've also had this habit of digging a deep hole in match, falling behind and then making a spectacular comeback. I don't think they can pull off any comebacks this weekend against Kentucky & Baylor.

How consistently has Washington/Kentucky actually played at their best? Their average/normal play is really all that matters when discussing a matchup. If playing at their best was so achievable, both teams would have less than 6 losses.
