Kingsley’s Morning Coffee:
Really looking forward to this one. Some of these matchups across the net are going to be really fun to watch.
Purdue likes to stress teams laterally across the net. They run these super tight and fast slide routes that make blockers work super hard when they’re in system. The Boilers stretch this even further with some diverse two-gap combos to Grace Cleveland, and Newton is proficient from the pipe. Bush is an attacking threat in the front row.
There are some new(er) fixtures in the Baylor front row with van der Mark and McGhee. Can they slow down attackers like Mohler if Purdue consistently passes well? We’ll see. It may determine this match. Pressley will deservedly get much of the spotlight, but I’ll be checking out some of the scenery around her.
Calling my shot (of espresso): Purdue for the upset.

As a Baylor fan, Purdue was not a team I was happy to see. Purdue is VERY good and I think that if Baylor wins it will be in a sweep. If Purdue takes the first set I dont like the chances of us coming back. I hope Stafford and VDM have good games today.

Wow, the #1 seed getting very little respect in this poll.
I think Purdue may push Baylor, but in the end Baylor takes cares of business in 4.

The hate Baylor gets only makes them better. I’m guessing most like 3-0 for the bears. Maybe 3-1.

Wow, the #1 seed getting very little respect in this poll. I think Purdue may push Baylor, but in the end Baylor takes cares of business in 4. The same thing happened in the polls for the USC game. I think people often vote for what they want to happen rather than what they think will happen. Regardless, this should be a great game and I think whoever plays the best backrow defense wins this one.

I agree that it is not hate for Baylor but wishful thinking by B1G fans. Shondell has done a great job with his teams year after year and just doesn't quite break through. I would like to see Purdue do well here (and eliminate the biggest threat).

Predict that Hornung will be the key to this match. If she can limit errors (receive and defensive) she may be the "difference maker."

The hate Baylor gets only makes them better. I’m guessing most like 3-0 for the bears. Maybe 3-1. Some people want to see an upset (like me last week, but for personal reasons ) But it is true there have been non-believers in Baylor all season long. But I like Baylor here. Pressley seemed like she didn’t even have to kick it into another gear against USC. I think she will if Baylor gets into trouble. If Stafford AND Van De Mark are lights out too, I don’t see how Purdue stops them. Bears in 4.
