Couldn’t agree more about Hames. Hilley is better in just about every facet of the game. I'd say Hames is a better defender. The girl can dig some balls. I mean Hilley can too but Hames is probably the most defensive setter that I've seen this year. Unless I'm blind and I'm missing someone. Hames is certainly the better defender, Hilley stronger in the other areas. Hilley is the superior player and I don’t think anyone would argue that. The point was made because of the gap between Hilley and Hames, Hames should not be first team which is just plain silly, and no all conference, all tourney, all American team has ever used that criteria. What was the gap between Logan Tom and the next best OH? Misty May and the next setter?

Except in every other sport, the idea is that if you were to put the best team on the field or court, it would be that First Team Selection. And I am not sure I understand your last comment unless you are thinking I am only talking about All Conference Teams. All American Teams should be the same way. in the format it is now, how do you determine the number of players given recognition? 18 on First Team, but only 13 on 2nd Team. Last years 2nd Team only had 9. Where do you draw the line? I really don’t understand your first point as they aren’t putting a team on the field or on the court for competition, They are acknowledging the top players. The line in terms of how many is drawn by who ever the powers that be are. We will have to agree to disagree on this one. But volleyball is the only sport, it seems, that does not follow the number of players typically used in competition when setting their First Team, Second Team, etc. whether it is at the conference level or All American level.

It’s important to note, coaches vote independent of each other. They have no idea how many players from any position will be receiving votes. They are voting for the best, most impactful players in the league. A league may have 3 setters who could be among the top 8 players in the league and top 20 in the country. We can agree to disagree. For me it’s about most impactful players, not putting together a team that doesn’t play. I respect your opinion

What was the gap between Logan Tom and the next best OH? Misty May and the next setter? Holy strawmans, please stop misrepresenting my post. Never said she shouldn't have gotten it because of the gap. Hames got All B1G because of 1) Nebraska's success, 2) injuries kept Miller and Orr out of the running and 3) just an overall lower quality of setters this year. I would have put both Blossom and Bush over her. If you think Hames is "elite," I would watch more volleyball. I'm a Nebraska fan, but her location, tempo and decision-making was off for most of the year. Keep pointing to her First Team All B1G award all you want, but it doesn't make her "elite" and she was one of Nebraska's biggest weaknesses this year. You are stating your opinion of her which I respect. I am giving my opinion of her which is shared by her hall of fame coach and the coaches of the best conference In the country. teams biggest liabilities are not usually named captain their sophomore season, set a team to an NCAA final and a regional final while being named to regional all tournament team. Your reasons for her making it are as follows 1. Teams success. Are teams usually this wildly successful when their setter is a liability? Some wiser than you and me think she was a big reason for their success. 2. Miler and Orr were injured. Coaches don’t operate on a number of players by position when voting nor do they know how each other vote. 3. Overall low quality of setters. Again, they dont operate by position. Again I respect your opinion but not as much as I respect cooks and many of the best coaches in the country. You can take your argument up with them. I shared my opinion and listened to yours.
