Pendergast did tweet 🐻🐻🚨🚨 #GoBruins yesterday.... maybe it was fleck Hmm...Pendergast also tweeted 🐻🚨 #GoBruins on January 12, which was the day after McCall announced her commitment.

I'm guessing it's UCLA for Fleck since UCLAVolleyball and Asst. Coach Megan Pendergrast started following her on twitter late yesterday. I've been rolling my eyes at all the social media following talk because I just don't think it really matters which players Fleck is following and which players are following her. But this time, I think you may be onto something. I also noticed that last the person that both UCLA women's volleyball and Megan Pendergrast followed was...Elan McCall, who is transferring there from TCU. Ironic that it's Twitter and not Instagram, which was the focus of the discussion. We'll see. What makes this different is that it is a UCLA coach following her, and not the other way around. And, the timing of it -- Sunday afternoon/evening.

But this time, there are some key differences (which also include Pendergast's cryptic tweets and both her and UCLA women's volleyball not following anyone else between McCall and Fleck) that make me think it does matter.

They definitely wanted her to learn from Fleck but Erik will put a lot of effort into NOT letting Nalani get Petersen's on court demeanor.

The scoop on Parra is that she's arriving fall 2020 and they are VERY excited about her. I heard "stud" "beast" and "should contribute immediately" from various members of the program. I am still curious to see her blocking in the front row but given how confident JE sounded I'm gonna go ahead and trust him on this one.
The group of Iosia, Cabello and Parra could be truly special.

I hope not because not saying Peterson is not a great player but she does not have great range which is her biggest problem and her timing is just off. One thing that really sets losia apart from Peterson is her ability to set out of system balls which losia is pretty good at. I heard losia needs to work on her passing so I think that will improve with good training and reps.

Yeah thats what I was worried about with her as well is her blocking. It's not like she cannot learn blocking technique because Texas is very good at teaching blocking technique but she will need to improve her vertical jumping and work hard in the weight room in order for her to be able to not only be a better blocker but also improve her offense. With that being said I'm still very excited about parra and what she will bring to Texas

Glad to hear Parra is working towards being on the roster come Fall. Hopefully, she will take care of any academic requirements necessary, and perhaps even enroll for classes during the June or July summer semesters.
Not sure if we'll pursue another back row player; you would think we would, but she would need to be someone the staff believes can strengthen that area.
Assuming Parra is good to go for the Fall, I would expect her at a minimum to serve and play three back row rotations (if she doesn't win one of the OH spots, of course). That also allows her to hit out of the back row and add another hitting option; subbing for the Opposite (Fields) would make sense.
I don't think we have the right personnel in 2020 for Coach E to consider some kind of 6-2 offense, but you never know. Guess a lot of that depends on how the setters perform this Spring. As fans, we'll have plenty of time to discuss options for the offense.

I mentioned it earlier, but the word I was told was "timid" which reminded me of JE saying the team was "quiet" and lacked a vocal leader on the floor. I am certain that part of the reason he was willing to commit a scholarship to Fleck, even with Iosia coming in, was because he wanted her leadership and competitive energy on the floor. I think that'll be the biggest difference you'll see if Iosia unseats Petersen this fall.

She's a mystery.

You can certainly embolden a player but if they don't have that energy you can't manufacture it. And until they're under fire, it's almost impossible to know if they have it. It's why I put a lot of stock in how players preform in 'big' matches. Someone like Logan has proven repeatedly, she'll step up. Sydney played her worst ball of the year in the tournament.

Yeah logan is a really special player. As they have said throughout the entire season that logan does not let much phase her. If she makes a mistake or has a bad match you can never tell by her body language. We used to call it at my high school "next play mentality" which is rare in athletes. Peterson really needs to work on that if she wants to keep her spot because her demeanor really showed in that tournament but I think that comes with experience so hopefully it changes come fall.
