There were so many smalls running around last year I thought they were larping Gullivers Travels on the baseline during matches....Surely some of them worked up some passing/digging skills over the course of the season? Are Bell or AMac going to get a shot at full time DS?
Speaking of smalls, number 7 really stood out in the matches I watched--looked like she was about 12.

I hate to say this but after watching to under Armour match, Robinson is going to be a beast in college. Reminds me of foluke. Great size, jumps high, comfortable on 31s and slides. She will be unstoppable in a few years, best middle in the 2020 class imo

Just having a few options in the front line will be a great luxury! If Grace or Molly rolled an ankle last year I think M.E. Dodge was the next (and last) man up.
I blamed at least a couple of the non-con losses on Duello being hurt and the 3-middle experiment w/ Shanahan came into play and there was much confusion....
Badgers could be tough to prepare for if they could plug Rettke, Hart or Robinson in on the Right at times!

Pretty sure Sheff is gonna keep Rettke and Hart at Middle next year. I would bet Robinson on right, but maybe Robinson redshirts to play a full 4 years at middle, rather than having her spend a year on the pin. I can see that happening if Demps can take make a case to start at RS - with an eye toward a later move to the left. I think the issue will be her block. On the other hand, Gorum has already burnt a redshirt, so she may be an option on the right too for a couple years. I expect robinson to partner Hart in 2021.

Really interested to see if wohlert gets any playing time in Spring. With her size, she could make a big difference on the right, but the speed of the transition game at this level may be too much for her. She was a late bloomer though, and we may be surprised.

She will not get playing time. We had an injured RS for most of this year and she didn't see the court...not once.

I don't expect Wohlert to crack the lineup. But, I am not writing her off either. If she can improve her footwork and quickness, there can be something there. Can't teach 6'7"

I think that it is Wohlert's hitting is what is keeping her off of the court, and not her blocking. in the past he has mentioned she needs more pop in her arm swing. I don't think her future is in the middle.

I think you explained what I had in my head. Robinson seems tailor-made as a middle blocker, as in eventual olympic-level middle blocker. For the 2020 badgers, I think she should probably be on the right. For Robinson, I would want her to keep developing as a middle. Assuming a Hammill redshirt, we've seen how powerful four full years of connection can be. I certainly don't doubt Robinson's capabilities to do the things an opposite needs to, but for some of the mini skills (out of system high ball hitting, setting a block, etc), my guess is Demps is just a little more practiced as a career pin hitter, including in backrow attacking. I certainly want to see how Demps blocks, but both seem matched in raw athleticism. But again, all of this is predicated on what I know, which isn't a ton. I see that Sheffield wants all of his players to be complete players rather than position players. He also doesn't recruit idiots or people that don't know how to work. A spring of practice could be all that's needed to pop Robinson in on the right side. To be clear, this is a fun conversation and imagining, but it is not even close to my concern over the back row getting sorted out.
