Ha, interesting, before my time a bit. So Mick picked some Asst Coaches and let them run the program for an entire off-season while he finished up w/ the US team? Pretty unique.

Minnesota hired Hugh McCutcheon in February 2011. Laura Bush coached the team for a year and a half before Hugh arrived after London.

This conversation is useless. Tyler didn't care when USC gave him a call after they fired Mick. Now he has the inside track to be Cook's successor. Why take a BMW now when you can have a Bugatti in a couple years?

If you love volleyball and love coaching more than anything in the whole world, and your spouse is 100% onboard, then there is no place like Nebraska. I will be monitoring many clues, chief among them the KHM (Kristin Happiness Meter). I would love to see a five-year run with this staff just tearing it up. Recruiting is a total wildcard, but if they have players who are game, the on-court stuff could be super fun.

Always felt a little bad that Hildebrand's wife never made it on the USNT Olympic roster. Yes, I hate Stanford, but I remember Kristin was a great player there and was aiming for a Olympic spot. Ah well, at least she won the World Championship in 2014. What is she doing now (besides moving to Nebraska with her husband)?

Interesting, good for her...not sure if there are a lot of demand for interior design in Linoln though.

It seems unlikely that Hildebrand would come back to Nebraska and wait for more than a year before taking over the reins. I think we're seeing the beginning of the end of the John Cook era. And I think that ends this year. I’m pretty sure cook told the 21 recruits that he would be staying for the duration of their careers... idk if it’s true but I’m 90% sure I heard that multiple times

Loved watching her sky from the back row.

And that may have been true when he said it. But life happens, plans change, and he may not be here through 2025.
