I just finished watching the Daeman - Pepperdine match. Wanted to give a shout-out to the Daeman video production crew for doing a great job in getting announcers, etc.
VT-ers, what are your thoughts on the best MVB streams out there? I'm giving BYU and Hawai'i my top votes ...

I love BYU's production because of the camera's proximity from the court but Hawaii shows the best amount of variety of camera angles along with having a great cast of announcers that know a lot about the game and the players on the court. It's always nice to hear a tidbit of information you wouldn't get from just reading a stat sheet.

Loyola-Chicago has a really good stream with knowledgeable commentators. Probably not the HD crispness of BYU or the Hawaii flair but quite enjoyable.

Agree that BYU and Hawaii are my favorites. The announcers for both are what make it for me. Hawaii is very knowledgeable and detail oriented. BYU is just fun and reacting to the excitement of the match.

Top from the last 12 months for me has to be BYU - production values are stellar.
Worst: Lewis last season - a livebarn feed from asc had better quality.
Runner up, worst: UCI (v Lewis last week) - constantly switching views between two cameras with vastly differing white balance.

UC Santa Cruz at Kaiser Permanente Arena does an excellent job.

Stevenson rarely has an announcer, but 3 system camera and a number of in-match replays was always nice

Are we talking streams or TV productions? I didn't think about this but the difference between the two is super important. Because Hawaii, BYU, matches shown on the Pac-12 Network are all TV productions versus Lewis, Penn State, George Mason, etc all being live streams. The difference is key in judging overall quality and you can't really put Lewis in a conversation with Hawaii.

Brian Rushing at Belmont Abbey, "The Voice of Belmont Abbey", does an incredible job broadcasting all home games, with help from student production and camera crews. He has a great knowledge of the game, learns names, numbers and insights of visiting teams, and makes watching BAC MVB games a pleasure. conferencecarolinasdn.com/bac/

I really like the color commentator for Daemen but the camera following the ball is tough to watch.

I'd be willing to give up some production values for a student production - honestly, I assumed that's what BYU was. Lewis was a stream, but even for that - it was bad last year. On commentators - I caught David Rottman doing a UCSB game last year, and he was spectacular - predicted, repeatedly and accurately, some of the tactical moves, which as a learner I really appreciated. Don't watch the Gauchos enough to know if he's a regular. Most annoying - Pepp. I'm sure the guy's loved in community, but... fingernails on chalkboard here.

Agree about the difference between TV production crews and live stream production teams - really any network TV crew should be much better - if they are not, seems like a huge failure. One key factor regarding all MVB live streams: are they FREE or do they CHARGE A FEE? I basically never watch a MVB live stream that charges, because that way I can’t be upset when they freeze or crash or the play by play guy says “dug up” on serve receive or calls the R1 the “Side Judge”. If it’s free, I don’t feel they owe me anything, so I can just mute it or turn it off if my ears or eyes are being assaulted. 🏐🎤😂

I'm embarrassed by UCI showing up-- I've done play-by-play when we can get an MC/Host to fill-in, but I'm aware of the streaming issues-- I'm definitely not blind to them. I'm hoping plans are in place to improve because the Bren is a great venue (but not on the same level as the SSC or SFH) and the potential is there. Whenever ESPN or FloVolleyball have come in the archives (outside the Play-by-Play guy) look great. The Bren is hosting the Big West Tournament this year, but before then I'm hoping improvement can be seen during regular season play. All I can say (since I'm a UCI Homer) is "Sorry." I'll speak with some people I know to provide feedback, but I know they're perusing the board here also.

Looks like Lewis pbp guy and analyst locked up #1 worst stream broadcasters position for this season with their performance last night in their loss to Hawai'i 🤡🤡
