Madison Cawthorn calls Zelensky a "thug"

I was planning on adding this to the old Madison Cawthorn thread, which I can find in a search of his name, but apparently can't read any more where I can reply to it. Did it get that nasty where the mods banished it into the ether?

But in any case, here's his most recent screed.

Representative Madison Cawthorn (R., N.C.) recently called Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky a “thug” and said the Ukrainian government is “evil,” according to a newly surfaced video.

“Remember that Zelensky is a thug,” Cawthorn said in a video obtained by WRAL-TV. “Remember that the Ukrainian government is incredibly corrupt and is incredibly evil and has been pushing woke ideologies.”

The comments were made at a town hall in Asheville, N.C., last Saturday, according to an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal written by former White House deputy chief of staff Karl Rove. Rove wrote that Cawthorn’s comments “don’t reflect Republican opinion.”

A spokesman for Cawthorn told the Washington Post that the North Carolina Republican was talking about pro-Ukraine misinformation.

His spokesman had to walk it back, claiming that he was misunderstood.

That is not aged well for Madison. Unlike you liberals, I can admit when Republicans are idiots. And this was an idiot move on his part. Zelenskyy has been heroic and inspirational. He is what every country dreams of as a leader.

I haven't heard that he apologized yet for claiming that his buddy left him in that burning wreck. Or an admission that he flunked out of a more or less unaccredited college.  Or explained the harassment allegations.

I very clearly wasn't talking about how stupid he or the squad or any other politicians are. I was talking about how stupid people were for believing he was a veteran when that's a clear and easy verifiable fact to know that he is not.
