Several months ago I commented on a thread, congratulating another school for their coach hire. I now get a "new" notice every time someone posts a comment about their team. How do I end this?

Several months ago I commented on a thread, congratulating another school for their coach hire. I now get a "new" notice every time someone posts a comment about their team. How do I end this? To my knowledge you can't unparticipate in a thread but there is a good fix to make it so you'll no longer get that "new" notice on the Participated list. You can designate a thread as having been "read forever" which means that it will still show up on the list of threads in your Participated list but you won't get a "new" notice. Here are the steps to follow to make that fix: 1. Left click on the "Participated" button to open up that pop-up window. 2. As you move your cursor over the thread you'd like to mark as "read forever", a gray square will appear to the left of the thread title. 3. Left-click on the gray square and a check mark should show up with the thread selected. 4. Above the list of the thread names there's a drop-down labeled "Actions". 5. Left-click on it and the drop-down options will appear. 6. If "Mark as New" appears as an option, it means you've read that thread recently and you'll need to left-click it; then left-click the "Actions" drop-down again and "Mark as Read" will be an option. 7. If "Mark as Read" appears as an option, move your cursor over it and another drop-down will appear. 8. Left-click on "Forever" and that thread should never appear with the black and yellow "New" sign on it on the participated list. *By doing this, that thread will also never appear with the "NEW" icon in the main list of threads, but that's the cost of getting it off your participated list. Let me know if you have any questions about any of this!
