So I saw a graphic on SportCenter that showed that R. Wilson and Fields were sacked 100 and 99 times, respectively, over the last two seasons. Apparently, no other quarterback (not even garbage Zach Wilson--though he kept getting benched) has been sacked as many as 80 times in that span. Great. The more I think about this, the more I hate what the Steelers are doing. Quarterback is the most important position. Going cheap like this probably won't work out. Edit: I somehow missed this earlier, but the Steelers traded Kenny Pickett for the Eagles for what amounts to two seventh round picks and a pick swap of 22 spots in the middle of the draft (3rd and 4th rounds). Apparently, Pickett didn't want to compete for the starting job with Wilson? Lol. I wasn't exactly thrilled with the Wilson signing either, but he's still better than Pickett, who I think is likely to be a career backup. He's just not good enough. Justin Fields is outstanding. I don’t know how the rest of that team looks, but if they have any sort of defense, with Fields and Pickens, they should be pretty good. You are lucky to have him. He struggled in Chicago because the offensive coordinator was a joke and they tried to lose as much as possible in 2022.

Wow, Atlanta just took Michael Penix Jr. at 8 (!). That's at least 10 spots higher than he was projected. And they already spent a ton of money on Kirk Cousins. I like Penix a lot and wanted the Steelers to draft him if he fell to them at 20 or even if they had to trade up a few spots. But still. This is a shocker. That was weird. But it left Odunze on the board for the Bears, which was what they wanted. I think if Atlanta takes Odunze, the Bears trade down. I heard cousins was not happy. Not sure why. 4 years $180 million dollars, and now you can sit as a backup and not get hit every week. I’ll take that. So what if you don’t go to the hall of fame. You weren’t going anyway. But he’s a hall of famer at the bank.

Frankly, I'm more optimistic about Russell Wilson turning the clock back than Fields developing.

Anyway, the Steelers have taken two offensive linemen with their first- and second-round picks. If you're not going to have a good quarterback, then having a good offensive line is the next best thing. I approve of these picks, even if I remain unhappy about the general direction of the team.

Frankly, I'm more optimistic about Russell Wilson turning the clock back than Fields developing. We all breathed a heavy sigh of relief when the bears didn’t get Wilson. They really wanted him. Fields helped lead the bears to victory in 2022, when they were trying to lose, against the Shanahan led 49ers, and the Belichick led Patriots. In 2023, he outplayed Goff both times they played. He outplayed Hurts and Allen in 2022 head to head. He has made tremendous throws that were caught at times and dropped many times. If not for 2-3 drops in a couple games last year, the Bears are 9-8 and in the playoffs. He started the game against the Broncos with 16 Straight completions. He’s got plenty of talent and ability. You are going to be happy that he is there. Watch some of the Tim Jenkins breakdowns of games and you’ll see.
