Jalen Reyes bringing the Nebraska way to Northwestern would extremely funny. Girls, two weeks into school during their fifth film session of the day: "... you know we need to study at some point right? Classes are a thing."

Ridiculous comment given how extraordinary Nebraska players have been in the classroom.

I think it's fair to stick a fork in the Reyes to NW theory... that ain't happenin. Not a snowballs chance.

Why would this be your first call? I was really impressed by how much she developed OSU this season, particularly their players - went from bottom cellar dwellers to sharing the cellar this season, but she eventually got them cruising to an insane beat down of Washington and the upset of Arizona State. She can coach. IMO, you need someone to develop players at NW until you start to get top recruits which could take a while. Her experience at Pitt speaks for itself. High-level academics (granted not as high as NW), but for those who don't know, Pitt specializes in pre-med and science degrees and their med school acceptance rate is like 4-5x the national average. She's used to working with STUDENT athletes which is def a requirement at Pitt, instead of dealing with athletic people who happen to be students like at most other P5's. Last point - yes, it's unpopular to go after a coach who just moved a year ago. But, two things: 1) Dawn Plitzuweit was a huge pick up for West Virginia in WBB. Got them to their first NCAA tourney in forever. Leaves after one season to go back to the Midwest an takes the Minnesota opening. Yes, that's strange -- but she proved her coaching style translated to P5, and realized recruiting to Morgantown is impossible. Back to a metro she goes. Same thing here for Behonick. Leaves to go to Oregon State, shows vast improvement throughout the season, and is now left conferenceless. Circumstances matter. 2) The PAC-12 conference dissolved. Mountain West has announced that OSU and WSU will each play 6 football games against MW teams next year while they figure out their conference situation, and ESPN has announced that similar deals for other sports will likely follow shortly. I think it makes all the sense in the world to go after a young head coach with final four exp as an assistant who just found out that she's been kicked out of the P5 and relegated to the MW. It makes all the sense in the world for them to pursue her and for her to interview for the job IMO. Nothing wrong with that, but why would she be your only call? As just one example, Matt Jones is a Hah-vahd grad and former player, and took UCSB to the tournament as an at large in his first season. I would also question the idea that a school like Northwestern in a conference like the B1G should only focus on young(er) inexperienced head coaches. The main issue, regardless, is their commitment to providing the full array of resources necessary to be competitive.

I looked at her resume an Oregon State and the record and immediately thought "no-go" but I appreciate you providing context as to why. I didn't watch a single Oregon State point this season so it's good to know that coach developed players and that they played well despite their record.

Nothing wrong with that, but why would she be your only call? I was being hyperbolic. Also -- being realistic. NW isn't going to pull in a big name at this point IMO. So, I went with the best fit profile I could think of w/r/t someone worth reaching out to who would take a call.

Ridiculous comment given how extraordinary Nebraska players have been in the classroom. you think jalen tutors them or something? lmao With character issues and the rep damage that he has in this conference along with Northwesterns recent legal issues. This is the last guy NW will have at the helm.
