Tickets bought for both days, PTO approved, and hotel reserved. Can’t wait to watch Wisconsin in person for the first time in 5 years!!!

Sheffield press conference is out on the UW Volleyball home page. I'll let someone else link it. Some highlights (I'm doing this from memory, apologies for any inaccuracies):
Not a lot of availability as far as bodies go in Spring practice, lots of people coming back from injuries. He specifically mentioned that Damrow still has a lot of rehab to go. CC on the other hand is (I'm not going to relisten to find this, but I think) close to being able to play. Carly Anderson is a "gym rat" and is putting in lots of time with hitters. Sheffield had some good praise for her - better than expected. They haven't really practiced defending, so that is going to be "rough" for the scrimmages No specific goal for scrimmages, just nice to have some 6 on 6 time. Was asked about possibly Olympians and obviously Rettke and Carlini were mentioned, but also Trinity Shadd-Ceres is apparently going to Canada's Olympic trials for long jump, he said they "hope she misses the first few practices because she's still in Paris." No specific arrival time for first years, they are all coming in at different time (not a surprise considering the variety of situations).

I laughed at Sheff's reaction to Stewart trying to ask whether Shadd Ceres might be a dual sport athlete at UW.

Also intrigued about the Week 0 midweek AVCA Showcase match. With KBB being Pres of AVCA, I'm guessing it's in Omaha and will be Wisconsin vs Creighton and Nebraska vs Louisville, Pitt, Florida or something similar.

Stewart asked about her level of interest, I would have added "what's Mick Byrne's level of interest?" :-)

If anyone here is a local and has recommendations on things to do / places to eat in Milwaukee, I would be grateful for suggestions! Thanks

If anyone here is a local and has recommendations on things to do / places to eat in Milwaukee, I would be grateful for suggestions! Thanks I'm sure others will have more/better suggestions, but a few blocks south of Fiserv is a pretty well known sports bar called Major Goolsby's; and then a block east of Goolsby's is a more upscale Italian restaurant called Calderone's. I haven't been to Calderone's in a long while, but my brother's law office used to be upstairs in the same building, and back then we'd eat at Calderone's fairly often, and it was quite good.

The 3rd Street Market Hall is a great area that has a ton of restaurants all under one roof. Nothing fancy, but lots of unique options. About a 12 minute walk to the Fiserv. If you enjoy beer, Good City has a restaurant/brewery in the "Deer District" which is right next to Fiserv. Sort of gastropub-ish.

Calderone's is still good, ate there a month ago or so. Down near the Public Market we like Cafe Benelux and Tupelo Honey. Further down, DanDan's is really good. Honestly, Milwaukee is an underrated gem of a city. Lots of good restaurants/bars in the Deer District and Third Ward.

Folks I just received an e-mail in my inbox that offered me tickets to Friday night's Spring match. For those of you like me and netninja who did not get tickets earlier when they were offered, you might want to check your inboxes, maybe you got one too.

I have a friend who had missed out on getting tickets for himself and his wife. So I just grabbed a pair for them.

Punzel to the rescue with a bone for information-hungry fans [WSJ online tonight]
"Sheffield would like to add two more players to that mix after the transfer portal reopens for two weeks on May 1:
“We absolutely will be bringing in at least one more person through the portal,” Sheffield said. “What that is, we don’t know. We have one scholarship and we absolutely are hoping to use that. That is the plan. Ideally, we would like two attackers, whether that’s a left and a right or a left and a middle. That’s one of the advantages of our big kids being capable of playing multiple positions.”
As it is, Wisconsin will have just three outsides — Franklin, Orzol and Shadd-Ceres.
I feel like we’re in as good a position with those three as anyone in the country,” Sheffield said. “But I’d feel a whole lot better if it was more than just three. We’ve had years where we’ve had five. And it’s an incredible opportunity because two of those are graduating after this year and one of those was our libero. So is it possible to break into the lineup this year? Yeah. Does it give them an advantage for the year after to break into the lineup? Yeah. That’s a position we would like to add a little bit more."
