LOL. I don't think any 'current' B1G teams are going to play 11 AM Wednesday home matches. I thought this was the “Grow the Game” part of the country. Would be an awesome opportunity for kids whose parents wouldn’t or couldn’t ever take them to a collegiate volleyball game. Anyway, in the highly competitive Big Ten, I get it, I wouldn’t like the idea of an 11am home match on a Wednesday to count towards conference standing. It’s like wanting a better opponent to play Nebraska *outdoors*. But still, I think it’s a cool idea. I do think teams staying on the road after a Sunday match and playing a Wednesday night match is still a real possibility. It isn't the quality of the play; it would be 7K season ticket holders in Madison and 8K season ticket holders in Lincoln, and however many thousand ticket holders in West Lafayette and Champaign, etc who would be paying for a ticket to a match they have little chance of being able to attend (without incurring further cost of taking time off work, etc.) And as I said, the Wednesday matches are regularly scheduled for and televised on BTN. Wednesday evening ratings are gonna be a lot better than Wednesday 11 AM ratings.

Gotta love the 20 game schedule. It elevates the importance of the scouting department with all these one and done matches.
Wondering how many sets a great scouting coordinator can steal from teams only having beginners at scouting.

I’m curious how the Big Ten volleyball players feel about the new teams. If you play volleyball at Ohio State, for example, how are you feeling about having go travel to the West Coast in the middle of the season? Is it nice to see new states or annoying because it’s so far?

Yes. 20 games isn't ideal, but this isn't bad at all, especially on travel given what people were saying would happen. I'm guessing USC/UCLA will travel three times: -Maryland/Rutgers in the same trip -Nebraska/Iowa in the same trip -Purdue/Illinois/Northwestern all in one trip.. but how this gets scheduled is interesting. I wonder if the far trips (coast--coast, i.e USC at Rutgers, Penn State at UCLA, etc.) will be scheduled earlier or mid-season rather than late in the season. I would think the Purdue, Illinois, Northwestern trip would be Wednesday, Friday, Sunday.

I don’t think any team is playing 3 matches in a week. It will probably be a home/away week with a Wednesday and Sunday match. I think the West Coast will play three teams for one week so they only have to travel three weeks. They can have one week with one opponent, and if they make it the closer west coast rival, that will give them an extended break to recover from the three games in one week. I see it being Wednesday, Friday, Sunday. Then the next week only one game on Saturday or Sunday with the close rival that you need to play twice.

She is from Mira Costa, California, and she will get to play in front of all of her high school friends twice in her career at Wisconsin, but also get to play volleyball in the top volleyball conference in the country.

Three away matches might be arranged on (wk-1) Friday, Sunday and then (wk-2) Wednesday, with a home match Saturday following.. but I don’t know whether the school would want players away from classes for that long a span. I would be shocked to see a B1G conference schedule that has more — or fewer — than two matches in a Mon..Sun calendar week.

I’ll add that I don’t really think that west coast schools doing a single one off to the central time zone is THAT big of a deal.
Stanford CHOSE to play a single match in Louisville this year. I think we’re making a mountain out of a mole hill.
