I mean… there must be a reason why Carlini got voted out… You are not suggesting there was bribery and an exchange of illicit money and other favors, are you?

Is there any way the USA takes 3 setters like they did in Rio? It definitely wouldn't benefit them but it is going to be so sad to see a setter go. I think VNL is going to be super important for Poulter, Carlini, and Hancock. I'd love for all three to make it because they all bring different talents, but I don't see it happening It is way more beneficial to have 4 outsides vs. 3 setters on similar note, what individual strengths do each of the 3 bring? I haven't really been watching the NT up until this point, but I'm curious if there's any context

All around offense...although Karch is waaay too OH heavy. Carlini- floor defense. Bic use. Good location but forces a bit too much to middles. Best blocker of the bunch. Hancock - composure. Steps up in big moments. Location is suspect but gets the job done.

Poulter has not played in a while, so the second setter needs to be strong in a 5-1 if she's off. Last quad, the second setter seemed to be chosen on how well a roll player she was. This time, it's who can run the show better, IMO.

I do think there’s a strong possibility the third setter out will still be going to Paris as the 13th injured reserve player. It’s better to have options and if one of those two chosen setters goes down we want to still have a choice. Every other position has the depth in case of injury.
(You could argue that libero doesn’t have depth, and that it would make more sense to bring Hentz in case JWO got hurt, but I think KRob or maybe even Larson could slot in at libero if absolutely needed. If we lose a setter to injury mid-Olympics we don’t want to be stuck with only one setter option).

I guess it's time for my yearly PSA: For the Olympic Games, the Libero(s) MUST BE DESIGNATED PRIOR TO THE START OF COMPETITION.
If JWO goes down, there is no 'KRob or Larson slotting into the L jersey'. If JWO goes down and Hentz isn't the injury reserve player, USA plays without a libero.

Whelp in that case, better have Rettke and O’Neal as the middles for their back court play 😂

Where are the rules that say that player can't be reassigned from OH to LIB in the case of the LIB being injured?

That's one of the things I loved about seeing her set majority of VNL last summer. And Carlini is great at utilizing the OPPs. I think she's sets a very good D-ball and makes sure to feed the hot hand.

Yall are leaving out that Carlini is the best option for getting to Plummer’s shanks and getting the ball up for her to batter it

If I’m understanding this correctly, then one of our OH’s absolutely could be re-designated to be a libero (as long as they weren’t currently on the court?)

I mean… there must be a reason why Carlini got voted out… Poulter is a mean girl and lobbied. I am sure this is a joke but Poulter is like one of the nicest people around. People were raving about her when she was 12 and she has always stayed humble and level headed.

View AttachmentIf I’m understanding this correctly, then one of our OH’s absolutely could be re-designated to be a libero (as long as they weren’t currently on the court?) I also read that to mean that the team could play a rotation or two (or more) until the player rotates off the court, and then re-designate that player as libero once they come off the court (since the language says at the time of re-designation rather than at the time of injury).
