Here are the 18 Japan players who are in the US now: OH/OP: Koga, Hayashi, Ishikawa, Kurogo, Wada, Inoue, Tanaka, Okumu Oba MB: Miyabe, Watanabe, Araki, Yamada S: Seki, Iwasaki, Matsui L: Fukudome, Kojima, Yamagishi Mayu mentioned in the interview that they will play a practice match with USA NT in their time there. Only 2 things surprised me in this trimmed roster. Nishimura, who was the main libero last year is out. I would've picked her over Yamagishi. And, They only brought 4 MBs - Araki did not play much this club season because she's coming from an injury so they could've at least brought another MB. Is she injured? As for Araki, I don't know about her form right now, a bit iffy at the moment if you asked me.

Looks like Gattaz isn't part of Ze's plans this summer (this is their training team) L: Macris - Roberta O: Kisy - Lorenne - Rosamaria - Tainara P: Gabi - Júlia B - Ana C - Pri Daroit C: Thaisa - Júlia K - Diana - Carol Lib: Nyeme - Natinha Training: Helena & LuziaB Brazil is shaky going into Paris to be honest. I don't have very high expectations of them.

Is it possible that JulieB can grow her game enough during VNL playing with Gabi to allow AnaC to take some swings at OP?

Is it possible that JulieB can grow her game enough during VNL playing with Gabi to allow AnaC to take some swings at OP? I would doubt it, but more because they need AC at OH than because of Julia's potential in question. AC has shown that she can stabilize her passing (e.g. end of club season last year), so I'd expect Ze to force her on OH a bit. Brazil also has quite a few options they need to trial for OPP: Rosamaria, Lorenne, Kisy, Tainara.

Kisy hit over .300 for the season in Brazil🤷♂️ including .313 in what I’m assuming were the semis and finals of the league

I think she had a rough 2022-2023 season as well, but she still ended up playing a few games last summer. Ze likes to use her as a sub.

Brazil is shaky going into Paris to be honest. I don't have very high expectations of them. That's what I thought going into Tokyo and look how well they did? They always over perform at the Olympics. True. Just as Italy always seem to under-perform at the Olympics, Brazil always like to pull a surprise or two at the Olympics to achieve results others weren't expecting of them. That being said, I am not sure if Brazil can repeat their overachievement at Paris, the competition is tougher now.

So, since the Olympic pools will be determined after VNL - I'll put this here.
Each Pool will have 1 team from each pod.
Pod 1: France, #1, #2 Pod 2: #3, #4, #5 Pod 3: #6, #7, #8 Pod 4: #9, #10, Kenya
Seems like I'd be pretty happy as a team ranked #3-#8. You run the chance of drawing France OR Kenya, OR both in your pool. For Pod 1 (and Pod 4) they know they are not getting at least one of Kenya/France.
There's a possibility one pool could be as tough as USA, Serbia, Poland, and Japan...

France is going to be the doormat for the top teams I assume...maybe they might be competitive against...Kenya, maybe?
