I’m genuinely curious for some of you who seem bloodthirsty for punishment: why does it matter what her team/school punishment is and why is it important that we know about it? I’d venture to guess lots of student athletes break team rules quite frequently, and we never hear about it. Getting a DUI is serious, and newsworthy in her context, sure. And we can watch her legal case play out just like anyone else. But for her particular team punishment, what’s the point of speculating and/or caring? Because the tens of thousands of teenage girls that look up to her will see how this plays out. I don't want their takeaway to be that a DUI is no big deal. Hopefully they will learn to not drink and drive. IMO her learning hard way will help many avoid the same. You learn from both the good and the bad of your role models, at least I do. Nobody is perfect, although some seem to make exceptions for self.

I can never tell if the whole ‘role model’ discussion is wishful thinking or people who just completely forgot their teenage years. Are you really picturing teens at a party logically thinking through their choices and the possible consequences? Even if they did, the hallmark of immature thinking is ‘but that won’t happen to ME’.
It’s one thing to be nosy or judgmental or both. It’s another to insist your motives are all about what teenage girls can learn.

A note to Harper... replying to negative comments on social media isn't a good look.

Can we march her naked through the streets of Lincoln chanting “Shame!” at her, while clanging a large hand held bell?

I somehow doubt that will be their takeaway from this, no matter whether Cook publicly punishes her or not. Regardless of how many people change their thinking, the point is the university be seen as acting appropriately. What if she is given no punishment, then does it again but injures someone?

Can we march her naked through the streets of Lincoln chanting “Shame!” at her, while clanging a large hand held bell? I suspect that would be well-attended.

Regardless of how many people change their thinking, the point is the university be seen as acting appropriately. What if she is given no punishment, then does it again but injures someone? That’s not really the role of a university, nor is it in the job description of a volleyball coach to “appropriately” punish a student or team member, with extra-judicial punishments, when they violate the laws of society. In Lincoln, that role rests solely on the judiciary of Lancaster county. On the average, these judges don’t look kindly on DUIs. I wish her well. More important than seeing an “appropriate” outcome, I would like to know 2 things, 1) who she was drinking🍷with (and who watched her drink an excessive amount of alcohol and then stayed mute as she got in her vehicle), and 2) where Harper Murray could possibly use a fake ID to purchase alcohol 🍷 in downtown Lincoln Nebraska? It matters not at all, what The American Temperance Society groupies think is “appropriate”. 🏐

38 pages on this and, so far, no one has yet come up with a "Harper Murray D-U-I" song sung to the tune of "Harper Valley P-T-A"?!?!
