I hope Keoni is not thinking he will go somewhere and be guaranteed a starting spot. I know the kid is confident and thinks he can earn it but he is a one year guy. One year guys have it tougher because you don’t have time to adjust. Even if he transfers to a school where he could play and play well, there is also an issue of team chemistry. I guess he wants ri play so if that is his main priority, looking for a lower level school is probably his best bet but again, no guarantee. I'm going to guess, Concordia. Do they have an urgent need for a pin hitter? He could join Menlo or Vanguard.

That would make sense since Makua is there and there are two other local boys on the team.

Agreed. Tread coming in allows him d1 game experience that many of the top teams losing their setters will be without next season. Yes his sets weren't always pretty. But this season will serve us well for players like Tread in the long run. i agree. tread coming in early is just going to benefit his game when it’s likely 3-4 freshman will be starting next year. tread has the potential to put up clean sets every time but he forced his sets too much this year trying to be like thelle, freshman mistake. he needs to play his game and stop trying to mimick an offense that not many were able to replicate. Exactly. Allowing Tread to get that in-game experience will prove invaluable. Had he not gotten the starting job or decided to wait until next year to join the team, Hawaii would be replacing another five starters (Kauling, Chakas, Galloway, Voss, Todd) and probably having half (if not more) their starters be Freshmen in 2025, which would have included Tread.

Well Levski is loaded. At least 3 on that squad are heading to National Level volleyball teams in the US so I guess they were the favorite to win in. Those three could easily be top 10 prospects for the class of 2024.

Wade coming in early is the right move. Not trying to knock down the Kamehameha program, but you can see the drop-off in quality between Wade and his peers. He still young and raw but it would pay dividends for him to start training with the Hawaii squad already. Definitely a redshirt as I don't see him cracking the lineup.
I do wonder what position Hawaii will train him at because it looks like he stopped taking passing reps at Kamehameha.

Maybe Kamehameha wanted to win games and the coach would not allow for experimenting at the expense of losing matches. I agree Kainoa coming early is the right thing to do. He can now work on his passing without hurting the team. He will have more than one year to work if he is due to enroll in Jan. All The kid will probably live in the gym in an attempt to improve his passing.

Hmmmm Ok yea i originally wasn’t a big fan of Wade graduating early but the drop off does seem pretty significant. A red shirt season of lifting and B/C side training will do him good.

Their team last year looked better imo. They probably lost seniors with that turnover. Get him on that JT bulk/routine! lol

And yes, agreed on bulking Kainoa up. Which is most possibly what is gonna happen. Because I remember seeing JT at UH games when he was a high school senior and he actually looked more skinny and lanky than Kainoa! But this redshirt season and his off season training really kicked in and you can see that JT put on some good muscle mass and bulk. Amazing!

Teens that grew like tall weeds typically need at least a couple of years after the spurt for musculature, coordination, and mental maturity to catch up. I'm not a fan of redshirting, but for some it can be beneficial.
