source? ngl you're one of the last people that I would believe on here. I’ll save this post as a “I told you so”!!! Good news is he isn’t going to a rival 😉 instead of acting like a manchild with "i told you so." How about you post what you know with some sources? He was named on France's wide VNL roster if that's what you meant.

Hawaii already has 5 middles with Nuerster, Hazan, Thompson, Parks and Yewchuk already on board. Payne comes in the following season. If I had to guess, they probably are targeting a 3rd setter, another passing OH, libero, and possibly another middle perhaps. We see but Hawaii is stacked already. Anymore just adds to the depth at this point. Also, Hawaii has had success converting middles like Hogland and Averill so I wouldn't doubt that someone like Yewchuk as an example surprises. Or someone like Parks steps up next season. Seddik was a possible thought but good for him to go pro. He will beast for sure. It makes sense to load up on middles now for depth since next year they will will lose Thompson to graduation and possibly Nusterer if he decides to go pro. Who knows maybe Parks and or Yewchuk transfer out as well. I remember there were talks of a local middle coming in. Names that were thrown around were Haidar (Punahou) or Longfellow (Hawaii Baptist). didnt he just confirm that he's committed until his 4th playing year??

Keoni is likely headed to a MPSF school that can guarantee him a starting spot. I don’t think Wade could do that with who he is bringing in. Thank you for sharing this, koavball ! Praying the best for Keoni. He did his best and balled out! Kinda disappointed that the reason for leaving is to have a guaranteed starting spot. I know it's not set in stone, but he should have the edge seeing as he had a season playing with Rosenthal and was 3rd in line at OH this year. Would've liked to see him really work on passing and prove all the haters wrong next season

Ugh who let you back out ? You need at least a couple months away from this community. You picked the right name for yourself, Baby. Thinking your diaper needs to be changed. Sheesh, you smell. Yup. You can smell from the screen. Counting down the days until the next Hawaii student athlete you decide to persecute.

Hard to shop around for schools with 4.5 scholarships. I doubt any of the transfers are slated to make much of an impact because of how rare it is to get a quality starter that isn’t already happy enough at his current school to stay rather than risk it elsewhere. Seems like most transfers trade down in caliber of program for more playing time. Sotiris and Sheward are the only ones off the top of my head that made major upward moves.

I know the kid is confident and thinks he can earn it but he is a one year guy. One year guys have it tougher because you don’t have time to adjust. Even if he transfers to a school where he could play and play well, there is also an issue of team chemistry. I guess he wants ri play so if that is his main priority, looking for a lower level school is probably his best bet but again, no guarantee.

I'm happy that we got to see him play more as a local kid with Hawaii across his back. It's different.

There could be a situation like Kauling, who lost their starting position at a high-mid tier program and would like to transfer to a higher tier program to get a shot at winning a championship, even if that means they would take more of a support role. Think Gary Payton and Karl Malone moving to the Lakers to join Shaq & Kobe LOL

And arguably, whether Sheward actually made an "upwards" move is debatable. UCI was the lower ranked team between them and Hawaii when Sheward transfered. It might be more accurate to say Sheward elevated them.

In a constant championship contender like Hawaii, he's gonna struggle for a starting spot. But it's still worth noting even before Spyros went down, Wade was putting Keoni in any and every chance he got, just to get him to serve as many times as he could. Other teams are not going to have POY contender Spyros Chakas and all rounders like Chaz as competition to start at outside. The fact that Keoni is generally all-around competent (even if his passing could use some work), combined with the upside of being one of the best servers in the NCAA probably could get him a starting spot at a ranked school that isn't completely stacked at the outside. And Keoni's not the kind of guy to think transferring is all he needs to do the start. The guy works hard. He's made leaps and bounds every off season so far.

The game has changed. Teams all over are finding OHs with size and passing ability. No doubt the kid works hard but it's no secret his size is an issue not matter how much we like to think it's not. Someone Keoni's size need to put more effort to perform. Over a long season, coaches probably have questions about his durability.
