Agree with other posters here about Thiim wanting to be Da Man but not realistic when you've got 6 rotation guys like Chaz and Spyros playing ahead of you. Then there's a high ceiling guy like Louis with a grenade launcher for an arm. It's a numbers game and Wade has to make the hard decisions on who gives us the best shot at winning matches now and into the future. If Thiim was playing for the Beach, Bruins or the Eaters, can he honestly say that he would see any court time other than as a serving specialist? With elite recruits like Adrien, Kristian, Finn and incoming ballers transferring from other top programs I think Wade was just giving Keoni a reality check when asked about his status as a starter next season. I understand his decision to enter the transfer portal but i feel like Keoni didn't do himself any favors by throwing Charlie and Louis under the bus during the pod cast. I mean, how are prospective coaching staff from other programs supposed to think about his comments?

As they say when you are applying for a job: don't bad-mouth your last employer, it just makes you look bad....

Maybe Thiim can get a probable starting spot at UC Santa Cruz banana slugs! Go slugfest!

Also when Shewie left vs. when Keoni left, they both left to get an opportunity they knew they wouldn't get from sticking with Hawaii. Shewie's now in the NCAA tournament hoping to get another title and we'll see what happens to Keoni next year.
But on the topic of culture, I became a fan of Hawaii because of the culture from the guys last year. Then I binged games and interview with the years when they won the title back in '22 with that same squad and '21 with Gage, Colton, Pat, Rado. Went back to watch when Joe was leading the team with SVT and that same bunch, even watched Franciskovic, Tui, Kupono, etc. The vibe I got from watching this year didn't have that same spark I got from watching previous years. Especially after Spyros went down. So hopefully they have some guys stepping up to bring the team together this upcoming year and instill in these new international recruits that aloha spirit

I think the guy handled the situation badly. Should not have aired dirty laundry publicly. Does he think this type of behavior will endear him to coaches of other schools? I don’t think so. You think BYU will all of a sudden want him on the team. He is a 6-0 reserve OH who never achieved any kind of all conference award and now he thinks he is “da man”? Bad move on his part. Should have left it up unsaid and turn a new leaf.
The kid’s claim to fame is flexing and screaming after every point.
As for his inability to get along with Louis, I’m not surprised. Louis was always telling him to calm down and could tell that he resented being told that. Everybody was also hyping Louis as the future and Keoni wanted that same attention.
This was a dick move on Keoni’s part. But TBH….not really surprised. Everything is about him so this fit the pattern.

Video on YouTube was gaining views and looks like it’s been taken down or set to private. Maybe someone contacted and asked the owner to set it to private?

Wieter is an intriguing kid. He is 6-5 so he got size for an OH. He hit .319 for the season and played well against teams like Grand Canyon, Ball State, Ohio State, and Loyola Chicago.
All MIVA second team so the guy is not some scrub. He probably not at level of the UH players but he could provide value as a B team member and provide maturity to a young team.
Maybe wants to play for a winner and have a chance to play at a big time program before his eligibility runs out. He would be Cole Ottmar’s replacement.
