It's always amazing to me that people can convince themselves of something that is both counterintuitive and demonstrably false. Talking about Mel and Brandie's recent silver medal in Doha despite not winning their pool, Travis said that it's better to go into the quarterfinal match having played that extra round because "you're not sitting around all day" waiting to play.
Since the Elite16 format change in 2023, teams with a bye straight into the quarterfinals are 46-34 (men and women included, but both genders were 23-17). So even beyond the fact that you can't lose a bye round, there really is no disadvantage to the extra rest.

I’m not saying you’re wrong but how much of that perception is the team with the bye is usually a better and higher seeded team that should be winning more regularly than a 23-17 clip?
