Has anyone looked at the numbers?
Transfer portal has turned into a monster and everyone has looked at the programs that have been very active, either losing the most impact players to the portal and gaining the most impact players through the portal. I am thinking about those programs that have not significantly lost players to the portal, not have taken advantage of it. Parallel to those questions, how have those programs fared?
Another question is how many players ended up not finding a new home after opting for the portal, and whether they returned to their original schools.

As to the question of players not transferring before they’ve finished their degree - Washington should be pretty high on the list. I think I can count on one hand the number of times that has happened in almost 20 years.

I don't see a WVB athlete from Yale in the Portal for the last several years. Same for Western Michigan. Western Kentucky is in year 2 without a transfer. The Patriot league as a whole has 8 WVB athletes this year and 6 of them are grad transfers. Last year 6 of 7 were grad transfers. On the other end, Gardiner Webb alone has 10 players in the portal this year.

Ivy League schools have almost 0 loss to the portal. I believe this is also true for Stanford. I feel like the reason for such low transfers is obvious.

Anyone smart enough to get in to those schools are probably smart enough NOT to transfer because of something as trivial as womens collegiate volleyball.

If you are at the Wharton School at UPENN, I think median income 6 years after graduation is $600,000 a year. Probably not going to give that up for volleyball.

Didn’t Stanford just lose a basketball player?
I would assume she didn’t get into her grad school (or just wants a better program)/stanford doesn’t offer it as I can’t remember seeing articles about anyone leaving Stanford other than for post grad degrees
(That one middle I can’t remember her name, but she was burgess class left the team but stayed at Stanford right)
