Definitely need to get that Ski-U-Mah chant going back again! I haven’t been to a home match in a long time either, do they still do “point U” after Minny gets a point? I’d also add for Minnesota that “spin your head/spin your tail” chant for Goldy, not specific to volleyball but it’s my favorite 😊 And of course the famous blanket lady, always there getting everyone hyped up! Yes… Gophers still do “Point U!” much to the annoyance of some (which encourages me to continue!) Peps Neuman (The Blanket Lady) is *definitely* an institution — started at Women’s BBall, but she also watches VB, so… It’s an utterly homegrown, simple, honest rallying point. I love it! www.startribune.com/gophers-beloved-blanket-lady-peps-neuman-was-once-a-star-athlete-too/571421212/JT's Gopher ears cap are another institution.

Surprised nobody has mentioned Go Big Red and Husker Power for Nebraska. I don't consider those vb traditions. They're used for all sports. Although, Go Big Red is being used for Nebraska's three offensive touches

Kids line the court for high fives from the starters at the introduction at Wisconsin. I don't know if its unique since intros are rarely shown on TV. I think the Badgers’ starting line-up high fives for kids at courtside may be unique to Wisconsin, although once I heard two other Division 1 schools do it. (I don’t know who.) it’s certainly a long-standing tradition, as they were doing it when I first walked in the Field House in 1996. The kid high 5 line is an iconic atmosphere thing that helped me fall in love with the program. I think it started in 96 or 95. There is also the slow clap during visiting team intros. Also the crowd going “Point, Wisconsin, whoop!” after Bonnie. There is a reason that was the title of the podcast by Jon and Dennis. I never understood the sieve shout at the opposing libero when she serves but it’s definitely unique as well.

I can, without reservation, say that I hate it when schools think it is fun to chant "X .. Y ... Z" (or whatever three letters they chant) on every touch of the ball.

Ski-u-mah is definitely a Minnesota cheer but it’s not really used for volleyball. Kind of surprises me that it’s never been chanted by the crowd during opposing team’s “bump-set-spike”. Ski-u-mah is part of the Minnesota Rouser and other fight songs but the part of the rouser that the volleyball team has embraced in tradition is after winning a match they’ll huddle in the middle of their side of the court and sway back and forth during the M-I-N-N-E-S-O-T-A part at the end of the song. More impressive when the band is there and a packed Pav is chanting along, but they skip to the spelling part even at away games. Ski U Mah used to be changed by the student section to the tune of bump set spike when the Gophers had the ball. Do they not do this anymore?
