Miami is solid but the way CU played in sets 2 and 3 is a bit concerning.. Miami has moments of impressive play, but they are most certainly not solid.

Miami is solid but the way CU played in sets 2 and 3 is a bit concerning.. Miami should have won this in 4 sets if CU showed up the way they can play. Instead, Miami won it it in 2 sets.... not even 3. Coach believes in a process and is stubborn with gameplans and lineups... and he doesn't care if it takes months to get to his vision. Other coaches would be more aggressive with their team to get where they need them sooner. Not Mahoney. He is soft. CU will be better in September and beyond, but so will other teams. The biggest issue is the lack of effort and not bettering the ball today. Not being aggressive on passing and hitting is soft... like the coach. Giving Miami free balls when they can at least get them out of system a bit is just dumb.

I like Jesse at first but I think that was with Liz’s talent. I miss her. Watching how much more athletic North Texas was last night was disheartening. Recruiting skinny white girls is not going to get the job done. Too bad he is not bad enough for CU to ever get rid of him but not good enough to actually do anything consistently with the team.

I've never really paid attention to them before, but I'm getting on the Miami train this season.
They're fun to watch and well, Grace Lopez...
If they're doing well at the end of the season, I could see them making some noise in the tournament.

I also miss Liz. I also agree with 'skinny white girls' haha. And it seems time (maybe even a little past time) to move on from Mahoney.

Eh, I think Abu was the only "major" contributor from the prior regime on the Sweet 16 team - the leading players there were transfers/his recruits. And it's not Liz you miss, but the assistants who were responsible for that program's success. That said, it is probably time to move on. The issue with this being a rebuilding year is what are they rebuilding from and/or back to?

The issue with this being a rebuilding year is what are they rebuilding from and/or back to? Last year was unfortunate with Lexi out for too many matches. They were easily on the cusp of NCAA before then, and they were a NCAA Tourney team the year before. CU also had a lot of bad luck on prior seasons with major game-changers being out too early for too many seasons (Shebby, Clayton, etc.) As said before, they won't be moving on from Mahoney, and re-signed him last month. I think the CU Ath Dir is fine if CU only makes the NCAA every 3 years --- as is the average for Mahoney now. A TON of D1 schools (including many P5 schools) would love to go to the Tourney every 3 years, but it's also unfortunate that CU is fine with that. So, yeah... possibly a rebuilding year if they don't shape up fast --- to maybe get to NCAA next year (as per their apparent plan).

Not Miami related, but no Tourney thread for this.... CU turned it around very nicely today.
Colorado SWEPT Rutgers, -12, -17, -16. The same Rutgers that did much better against North Texas and Miami than CU did. Lots of aces, better blocking and passing/defense, and Burilovic is a monster kill maker with all her kills this weekend (13k, .458 today in 3 sets). She is either the best OH or 2nd best in this Tourney.
I feel a bit better about CU after today. We shall see. I do realize it's Rutgers, but Rutgers has been better lately.
