A rare home match for Oregon before conference season. It won’t be the full house it should be for the Pitt match because the students won’t be arriving on campus for another month, but hopefully the fans who are in attendance will bring extra energy and passion.
Other than Nebraska in November, the Pitt match should be the biggest home date on the year. A win here could pay huge dividends when it comes time for seeding in the NCAA tournament.

I would add that Oregon better not overlook Long Beach State in their Invitational match. Texas found out last year that Long Beach State can play some pretty good volleyball.

That was less about Long Beach State and more about Texas looking like a rec team. They’re no pushover, but there’s a clear difference in competition between Oregon//Pitt and what LBSU has. Not to mention losing their head coach to an assistant position at USC is less than ideal. Beating Texas at home in front of a raucous crowd may be the volleyball program’s high water mark for some time to come.

They do, however, have some arms and can play good volleyball at times. They lack consistency. They are capable of playing with top 25 teams one night, then the next night they look like a high school team. If they are on, they might give Oregon a good match. If they are off, the match might be over in 45 minutes.

Past performance is often a good indicator of future performance. Long Beach State has been a giant killer in the past. In this case I wouldn't even call Oregon a "giant". I believe Oregon lost almost all their starters from last year. A team with a lot of new players can often struggle early in the season. Am I predicting LBSU will win? No. But I am saying it is not crazy to think that LBSU might upset Oregon, especially if Oregon overlooks them. I like Ulmer, especially now that he is coaching in the B1G. I hope while he prepares his team to play Pitt, he doesn't just overlook LBSU.

Switched my Sling from Orange to Blue with Sports Package to get this one. Thinking I won't get the BTN+ for the season. I thought you could get just a school or just a sport, but I don't see that option anymore. Find a way Ducks!!

Welcome to life with Comcast.
It took a year for Comcast to agree to get the ACC Network in Pittsburgh after it launched. I think they also were pushy with the Big Ten Network when it first launched, too. What Comcast is doing is pretty typical.

There is zero chance this football game ends in time for the start of the match.
