Both those teams should be happy to make the sweet 16 tbh I think Minnesota at least looks like they have the pieces. Passing is just sooooooo suspect and that is not something that normally improves drastically within one season

This was scary I think it was a must win for Stanford. Their experience and grit really prevailed. As many have mentioned they need Blyashov back. Positives Francis and Miner were connecting better than we have seen. Rubin is still that girl. Miner is both a setter and track star running some of these down. Ogilvie got some nice digs. Not their best work but take the W and then focus to the next opponent.

She is walking okay. I hope that’s a good sign. It’s my understanding she will be back sooner rather than later. Blyashov is out for this season if this holds up like your Devin tea LOL

She reached out to MULTIPLE schools, or had friends reach out. She sent feelers. But ultimately she decided to stay for whatever reason.

Can someone who has actually played competitive volleyball explain to me why you wouldn’t swing with a set that would allow the hitter to swing??
Even if you hit into the block it’s better than tipping and giving the opponent a free ball. Woof

Ugh both these teams looked like they’re top 10-12 teams. Miner’s sets looked so sus in the first two sets. Stanford just doesn’t have that much fire power aside from Rubin (and Francis if she likes the sets lol)
Harvey is a great server but not an offensive threat. I’d like to see what this team looks like with Blyashov but I don’t have high hopes for Stanford this season :/

Even though I was whining a lot all match, I am optimistic about this Stanford team. Did they play well the whole afternoon? No. But they showed a lot of grit as the match went on. This is a different look Stanford team without the firepower and stability that Kipp and Baird produced, so they are still trying to iron out some kinks. Even for veterans like Miner, Ogilvie, and Rubin. I will say that now that this is essentially “Rubin’s team” (at least from an attacking standpoint), I don’t think they will be lacking in the grit/competitiveness department, which will be key when they are playing teams like Pitt lmfao. But it’s the second match of the year and I don’t think we should be drawing conclusions yet. Especially when one of our projected started OHs isn’t playing right now
