Then Kelly EGO came into play -- he was mic'd up, so he needed to pretend she was Carlini, or Hilley, or the 6-2 munchkins from a year ago. Charlie is different; she doesn't process information like those setters did. All he did by calling out Reds, B's, and Bics' in his messaging was short-circuit her brain. She is a different type of cerebral athlete and atypical setter; she's unique, and during the middle of a match or time-out, she does not need a coach-to-player side conversation. Her rhythm changed after Set 1. I hope someone can relay to Sheff that his game-time side chats do nothing for Charlie -- she sees the game three times ahead. I think this is true. What could someone who has coached two Olympians, won a Nat’l Championship, and taken multiple teams to a final four, including two that started setters currently playing professionally, have to share with an 18 year old that could help?

I'm tired of seeing our 6'10, four-year starting player who still cannot put a F'ING ball away! This has to be the biggest failure for everyone; we've been cheated of greatness. Since her coming out party at Nebraska during her freshman year, I don't trust her on the RS, or anywhere for that matter. Unfortunately, CC (including last night) would have changed the dynamic in the middle. Anna was being used by 6' Anna of LU. Sad. Shrek goes spastic on any ball set off the net; simply put, she can't do it on a match-by-match basis. She's more of a liability. Anna Smrek held Anna Debeer to a negative hitting % but go off I guess because Debeer got a couple of flashy kills lol.

TSC(?) Wisc. OH was not in the OH 2 Spot:she was playing the OH1 spot: so Franklin is in front row twice with smrek and the freshman is only with smrek 1 time: which means the hitter helping new OH carry the load is Franklin; i know franklin had bad ankle from USA thing: but her rapid weight loss seems to also have effected her ball velocity?? A guess: but Wisconsin’s issue will be low and shaky number of quality OH’s: and outside pressure, and a freshman setter with lots of expectations on her. Along with a tough pre-season schedule. Wisc stay into the process you’ll come out other end ok!!! I didn’t mean second OH as in OH2, but just as the second outside in the lineup complementary to Franklin, whoever it is. Regardless of if it’s Orzol or TSC, they’re gonna need to produce more than 0.5 kills/set. 1 kill more per set and she is hitting over 6k’s : .4000 K%: : that should be not to hard for her: freshman , athletic: she’ll be fine: but really she’s not problem: franklin’s backrow K% and eff% needs improvement: this line up can be tough for freshman to handle: tell Shef raise sets and forget tempo to the freshman! And coaching staff needs to recognize changes in blocking scheme and coach up that freshman setter: “ ok to set B there just higher so attacker can go over” in other words they are hard fronting your middle in this situation! Didn’t like shef’s comments to his setter that time espn let us listen in: ambiguous instructions: no real help for setter decisions

I am not looking forward for this site to host the National Championship come December. I don't need all the flashing lights during the lull in between points. Keep the lights on, it's distracting as a viewer. It's the environment they created for the people actually in the arena, and it was a more fun and upbeat environment than any volleyball game i've ever been to - which includes a national championship match The environment in the arena was fine, except for the sound system. It was impossible to understand most of what was said over the PA system. It would have been nice to know what was actually happening during the gum cleanup operation and the many minutes long rotation review in the first match. If they ever announced it, I surely didn't hear what was said.

Diva was about to walk down at the Yum last night and cuss out Sheffield. Diva remained patient..... wasting my GOT-DAYUM MONEY! on hotels, air, food, and away from my babies...... for this?!?! I regress. So! My observations from yours truly: BIGGEST TAKE AWAY - Set 1, Charlie was in control and running her show - things were flowing. Then Kelly EGO came into play -- he was mic'd up, so he needed to pretend she was Carlini, or Hilley, or the 6-2 munchkins from a year ago. Her rhythm changed after Set 1. I hope someone can relay to Sheff that his game-time side chats do nothing for Charlie -- she sees the game three times ahead. Her teammates will catch up -- they'll learn not to be surprised. Coach Sheff, in-game time, LET HER PLAY and be the QB -- She's going to do her own thing. Your verbal diarrhea does nothing for her but confuses and frustrates her. (Watch the replay of thier interaction - you'll see it exactly) I'm tired of seeing our 6'10, four-year starting player who still cannot put a F'ING ball away! CC and Booth (who failed so many blocking assignments) are in the middle, and the go-to is RS Robinson. Charlie can set Robinson on the Right and on a combo slide. I don't know what Sarah played yesterday, but the roll shots to the sky and lack of power were very concerning. Something was not right with her. I'm okay with aggressive serving, just not to the middle of the net. If you miss, please don't miss as you serve flat-footed on the court. This team can be good, will be good. Shadd-Ceres game reminds me of a young Tammy (TTA), but she obviously doesn't spray the ball all over to the bleachers. Once she's more comfortable out there, I think she can have a breakthrough by midseason. The lackluster deer in the headlights play as the night went on was disappointing. No urgency was felt or the will to win. This mentality gets you in the middle of the BigTen come November. We need a SOLID OH. The Tank or whatever you'll praise her as, needs to step the f'up! To me it reads like you must have a good personal/volleyball relationship with her to understand her this well! Maybe you can reach out and let her know to ignore her D1 head coach and do her own thang in the meantime?

I also thought it was amusing that in the player introductions the announcer mispronounced most of the Nebraska player names. My personal favorite was "Loxi" Rodriguez. I know Lexi hates being called "Roddy", so maybe we should just call her "Loxi" from now on.
