Also, can we finally acknowledge that Lauren Briseño is not just a one-dimensional, passing libero?? Because that myth has been debunked Has anyone ever said that even once Yes, multiple times on this board. Lots of “she’s a great passer, but defense is meh” comments last season

There is potential there for the Gophers. It's early. Let's see if they can pull it together and play a little more consistently good thru the season. Yeah I don’t really feel any different. The Texas win was great and fun to see. But even that match showed the inconsistency. Bummer to lose another tiebreak set by two points, but I’m glad they fought and earned the opportunity to play it. The team seems to have a wide range of play. High ceiling and low floor. Hopefully we narrow that range and get the average closer to the ceiling. Congrats Bears! Gophers and Bears went 2-2 in the 4 years of the B1G/Big 12 challenge. Gophers lead overall 4-2.

I played and coached volleyball for 10+ years, and I have never played or seen a team self-destruct so often like MN the last few years.

I prayed for creativity on the crunch both both teams went vanilla
MN pins had chances for high hands or tools down the line but got tippy
In all my years watching MN VB I’ve never seen a squad that could tip offensively with regularity Mostly we cede tempo to the opps
This was a great comeback from 5-10 to 14-13 The steadier team won, but we showed grit in a match where we were beating ourselves

Ok, on one hand the last few points did look like a drunken picnic game…. On the other hand I’d rather have those long rallies end with the ball on the floor rather than a refs whistle. "drunken picnic game" is one of my favorite descriptions I've seen on this board

It's true, whenever they get a good win, it's followed by a bad loss. Never fails. It's hard to be a fan when your team breaks your heart year after year. I've been following since 2001 and I'm dead inside.

Two doubles would have been called last year there at the end, would have given MN the win. Young setters take note, having skill is no longer rewarded. Those who said "we're back" after one good match, spoke too soon. Mel fell back into her old habits of ignoring her middles. It's going to be another very long season. omg lmfao as if Minnesota didn’t double plenty of balls in their win vs Texas in scramble plays

Minnesota can be proud of themselves for such a tight game, while taking a lot away from this one to learn from.

Congrats to Baylor. They are talented...more talented than I thought they'd be. McGhee and Czech are excellent and Barrett-Frazier is the steady hand they need at setter. It will be interesting to see their progression this year. As for the Gophers...sigh!

If you're good with them always just being an 18-25 type of program, then yeah.
