Some of the submissions are laughable. Especially those that left SMU unranked while putting Nebraska in their top 10. SMU swept Nebraska, hello? And then lost to LMU a few days later I stand corrected. Now my comment is laughable. 😂

So basically, because Wisconsin folded like a cheap suit against Texas in sets 3 and 4, that's more impactful than the fact that Wisconsin went 2-2 (with the more recent wins) against the same set of opponents that Minnesota went 1-3 against. Nuance. Okay, I guess I buy it. I mean, I don't, but when rankings teams that are 1-3 or 2-3 you need to be using nuance. Frankly, as a Badger fan I'm stunned no one ranked them below 13* even though all their losses were against opponents ranked in the top 5 ... oh wait Texas, what happened? *except hornshouse? is their vote not official? its not my ranking so they can explain more. Minnesota has a win over Texas, Wisconsin doesnt. Minnesota went five sets with Stanford, Wisconsin didnt. All four results between Minnesota/Wisconsin/TCU/Baylor were decided by almost the minimal amount of points possible, with match points saved across the board. Thats why I said it's more nuanced than just straight wins/losses. If they want to say Minnesota's other results are stronger, they're free to do that. also getting mad about a VT poll at 11am on a monday is something. its quite literally meaningless. I actually deleted the original. I'm not mad. If I wanted to be mad I'd go over to the Facebook page instead lol

And then lost to LMU a few days later I stand corrected. Now my comment is laughable. 😂 I don't think so. I have respect for both the Hawaii and LMU losses. Hawaii was in 5 on the islands, LMU is routinely a decent team, they weren't that far off the bubble last year (part of the first 8 out listed by the committee) and they had a rough-ish first weekend but there's reason to think they're decent. It's also hard to completely ignore a Nebraska sweep. I think if SMU made it in they are certainly a 20s team, but, I don't think it's entirely wrong to include a 2-loss SMU team. ESPECIALLY if we're going to knock SMU for 2 losses and not reward them for beating Nebraska, but we'll ignore Texas losing twice, including once to an undefeated Miami, and keep Texas above Miami.

If you weren’t responsible for voting this week, you don’t get to complain. This week was MESSY. I feel good about MAYBE my top 3. Everything after that was “eh, why not?”

We got demolished by SMU. It wasn't competitive. Can't be outraged when we drop after that. I'm just sad.

You want to credit results on court, but you also know that, say, Nebraska, is not actually as low as results on court would indicate. Also I had a real tough time on #1 between Pitt and PSU.

Miami is UNRANKED by someone after defeating Texas? Revocation on that one. Texas lower then Wisconsin is just dumb and I'm a Wisconsin fan.

Yeah, definitely had to check myself a bit when it came to looking at team talent and expectations vs. actual on-court results. As far as PSU vs Pitt, PSU’s caliber of wins have been more impressive to me than Pitt’s which gave them the edge in my poll. Taking down Louisville for sure gave them the advantage.

Everything after that was “eh, why not?” Even my top 3 could have gone in any order. May go back to ranking in pod clusters and just not caring about the actual number. That was better for my peace of mind. And blood pressure.

Agreed, I don't think it's laughable. SMU could very well turn out to be a very good team (as could LMU and Hawai'i). But I'm going on results so far.

Since it’s general chaos around here, I’ll be brave. Don’t come for me, brothers and sisters. I live in the SoCal fire zone and the smoke was getting to me. 1. Pitt 2. Penn state 3. Stanford 4. Purdue 5. Creighton 6. Kentucky 7. Louisville 8. Nebraska 9. Miami 10. Texas 11. Minnesota 12. Kansas 13. Oregon 14. Wisconsin 15. TCU 16. Baylor 17. Tennessee 18. Arizona State 19. Georgia tech 20. BYU 21. USC 22. Auburn 23. Florida 24. Florida state 25. SMU Kentucky ahead of Nebraska? Nebraska has 1 loss, Kentucky has 2 losses. Nebraska beat Kentucky in a head-to-head matchup on a neutral floor. Interested to hear your reasoning for this.

Watching them shake off that sluggish start against a pretty good Kentucky team was impressive as well - something I wish a certain other team could have done this week. I initially moved Pitt up to #1, but they've only played 3 matches so far. The eye test says they're very good, but I just couldn't make the case to myself to put them ahead based on results.
