I think the major difference is serving and passing. Pitt serves more aggressively and PSU isn't serving strong enough to eliminate any hitting options.

Damn! This is the team to beat! Been watching Pitt, Stanford, Texas, Wisconsin, Kentucky, Nebraska, Purdue, Louisville so far this year. It’s early, I know. But Pitt, with this quality teamwork, is a hard out! A very hard out.
