Really hope Whitman makes a move after this season if it continues to go like this.

So, how high are we ranking Washington in the top 25 poll this week? They’ve been in the high 20’s in my poll since week 3. I’m prepared to put them in the top 20 this upcoming week. Some of these point differentials is impressive, in particular considering they are without their best player - Barton.

Illinois had 26 kills, 23 attack errors.
Terry/Hernandez went 10-16-56 🤯

So, how high are we ranking Washington in the top 25 poll this week? …tbh, I wouldn’t go higher (lower?) than 22. There are several teams who have impressive resumes. Washington needs a win against a currently ranked team to crack my top 20.

we don't pass, we don't play defense and we don't swing. What a shock that we don't win. but we do give teams half a set's worth of points in the form of service errors!!! Both teams were -5 in the service game: Ill 5sa/10se; UW 3sa/8se. So, it was a wash. The real difference was that UW was +18 in kills.

They should move on from Tamas after this season if things don't turn around

While they may not be top competition, the last four matches have been against @ Pepperdine, @ LBSU, Indiana, and Illinois. These are quality NCAA tournament at large possible teams. Washington has lost just two sets and have held opponents to 20 or less points in 9 of the last 14 sets....that's pretty solid.

Back from the match and haven't read the thread. Two no-to-low drama sets and one absurdly dramatic set.
I told my wife after the first set that Illinois could not possibly play this badly in the next few sets. I just hope the Huskies don't look as discombobulated when playing the second match on the road within 24 hours after traveling two or three thousand miles. Two stats that should never happen together did in that first set: Washington hit .100 and sided out at about 94%.
The second set could be something to build on for this Husky team. Down 24-19 and facing -- how many, 7, 8, 9 set points? -- they dug deep and maybe discovered some things. One thing is that it is good to have Molly Wilson both setting and serving. A second thing is that Emoni Bush can be absolutely clutch. We might have to call her E-Money. The third is that everyone contributed at some point in the highly improbable comeback. It's been a long time since I've seen a set this exciting.
A few things stand out:
- Washington held the Illini to .029 hitting; the Huskies will continue to be at or near the top of the NCAA heap in Opponent Hitting Percentage
- UW's transition offense is alive and well; in fact, it hasn't looked this good in a few years
- Bush continues her upward trajectory
- Wilmes continues her clutch play for an injured Barton (she's asking the question whether, after Barton returns, it should be Barton and Wilmes on the left side; on the other hand, Endsley showed her craftiness again tonight after a slow start)
- Bays had another solid match, as did Heard
- UW can still struggle in serve receive; I think we will be vulnerable to teams with consistently good SR that can also terminate and side out consistently
- Fletcher will need some time to re-integrate into the team; Barton might as well when she returns
- the team looks well-coached with excellent chemistry; Leslie deserves real props for this 12-0 start
There's a good chance the Huskies will be undefeated when they arrive in Madison next week. Who would have predicted that?

I will say this about Illinois. We did not see their best; far from it. Terry in particular was just off. Serve receive was shaky all night. Illinois started going to their middles in the second set when they realized that the Huskies were keying on the pins. Consequently, the middles had an efficient hitting night. Not nearly good enough to offset the negative numbers put up by Terry and Hernandez, however. A bright spot was the serve of Mosher -- just wicked. I actually thought the Huskies handled it relatively well considering how scorching some of those serves were.

I hate to say this, but this coaching team is not working. At what point do you take Raina off? What’s the rationale here? What’s the worst case, you lose in 3? But is there anyone better to even put in tbh
