Ok, Im logging off…. No way we should have lost that game Are we ignoring Washington is knocking at the door of being in the top 25 and had a 70% probability of winning? 24-19 and we couldn't close it out. Lost the set wgich totally killed any momentum. Had we tied 1-1 it would have been a whole different match

Sure, Washington’s knocking on the door of the top 25 and had a 70% chance of winning, but that doesn’t mean we should roll over and hand them the keys. Saying, “they’re better, so we should lose” is about as inspiring as a wet blanket. Where did all that confidence go from a few games ago? If we keep going into matches like Oregon and Washington thinking, “Well, maybe if all the planets align, we can sneak a set,” we’re done before we even start. The real question is: why are they succeeding, and we aren’t? I’m not here for the “let’s hope we get lucky” attitude. That’s not high-performance—it’s wishful thinking. Appreciate the optimism, but at this rate, we’re going to end up like Rutgers—just happy to be here (cue the eye roll).

Had we tied 1-1 it would have been a whole different match I don't really believe much in "momentum" that carries over from one set to another. Yeah, we've all seen 0-2 -> 3-2, but we've all seen 0-1 -> 1-1 -> 1-3 as well.

Volleyba is a game of runs and momentum. Had we won the 2nd set, I definitely think it would have given us a better chance if winning. Reverse sweeps are a perfect example. They win game 3, momentum swings, get a little hope & the team up gets tights.

Volleyball is all about those swings. However, the way we were playing, I’m not sure we ever truly put ourselves in a position to capitalize on that momentum. The energy and execution just weren’t there, and Washington kept applying pressure while we struggled to respond effectively. It’s not just about winning a set—it’s about showing you can sustain that level, and that’s where we fell short. But as they say “ any given day” is still my motto.
