I remember the last time these two played. That was a fun year. It was also the year I graduated from UCLA. The Bruins should have joined the B1G sooner. I would have been at Pauley in maroon and gold a few times!

Emily E., on the Volleyball mag podcast, gives UCLA a winning shot if they serve tough because their block is so good. 10 blocks in 4 sets vs Neb UCLA had a sideout in set 3 to reach 15-22. Kat Lutz then won 9 straight points to go ahead 24-22 before a SE on her 10th Over the course of the run UCLA had 2K, 4 blocks, & 3 NEB HEs I did watch some of the Neb match but thought UCLA was overmatched, then I went back to watch set 3 having been dumbfounded by that 9 pt service run. There were no aces and Neb was not OOS much 15 blocks in 4 sets vs OSU it was pointed out that EE was speaking of USC. my bad USC is currently 5th in D1 over 3 blocks/set. It's early, of course, and who have they played that maybe didn't avoid the block? UCLA, in 2 B1G games is blocking @> 3/set. USC against the same two teams (OSU (17) & Neb (2)) tallied 19 in 7 sets. More to the point is whether MN biorhythms can adjust to start times as the second featured B1G match that are at 9 & 10pm CDT. Rockstar, Monster, 5hr energy anyone?

Is McKenna still expected to be out? I’m sure that’s a decision we won’t know the answer to until Friday. My *guess* is that she’ll be out, based on the attempt to have her play last Friday, and then the switch to more-or-less street clothes on Saturday.

I'm thinking this will be another 5 set match. 9pm CT start? Yeah… a long five-set match is only fitting.

I'm thinking this will be another 5 set match. I don't know -- UCLA has maybe two servers that can put pressure on the Gophers. I don't forsee Shaffmaster having to run as much as she did in the Purdue match. They also aren't in system enough/lack a good connection behind the setter to make Dodson/Dodson as effective on the slide as Colvin was. Now if the Gophers block fails them against Leverette/Olson/Horne, then yeah, it could be a loss.
