Nice win MN. If they need to do something weird at any later point, it will be something they've already done.

Tbh concerned about Hanson. Hope she’s okay. Can’t do this tomorrow night. Nail down a lineup and pray.

Of course, Minnesota needed another five set match.
They did it just to prove they can do it when they feel like it.

At this point, it maybe that polls and fans have underestimated the Big Ten's new arrivals. IMO all four have a good chance to finish in the upper half of the conference and are making an effort to be in the Top 25. This is toughest on the fans who's teams might be pushed down four spots. However, Minnesota will probably finish in the upper half of the B1G. But where? Go Big Ten! In the poll you made didn't most people vote for the PAC schools over teams like Illinois and Ohio State? Seems like most people know they're good lol. I guess we have to play the matches and run out the season. Enjoyed the match today. Congratulations Minnesota.Tougher win than I expected.

set 5 MVP: McGhie! infectious energy from the serving line provide a real energy boost 6 point service run from 6-6 to 12-6
Whatever is ailing Hanson I hope doesn't spread
it felt like a mountain climbing team and a few members fell into a crevasse and the whole crew starting sliding back Then somehow the ice axes pierced the hard pack And we climbed out Completely out of breath and spent
And we have to do this again... in 22hrs!!!
It didn't feel like we eased up on our serving but the Bruins passing got a bunch better and we started to get Dodson'ed off the court
For the most part our passing, though not stellar, wasn't rampantly awful I thought we were better on their overpasses, but still have a lot of room for better Our back row attack remains anemic. Hanson had one and Crowl scored on one that happened to hit the floor. UCLA was WAAY better hitting off high hands, and our block would do well to consider whether their opponent is capable of driving her set down into the court. If the set is being contacted above their preferred attack angle... don't stretch to touch. EASIER SAID THAN DONE.
i have no idea why Keegan thinks it's smart having Grote as a left pin. Alex missed a serve in prime time vs Purdue in set 3 and was sat down for the remainder of the match. But she is more competent than Crowl and a way better server. The main Gopher thread had a chart from pavsec5row10 showing that MN is scoring a point on almost 60% when Alex serves If Crowl could actually terminate a D ball she would be an asset serving for a MB.
I know nothing about the strengths of USC. They are supposed to have a good block. I would put Phoebe facing their strongest front row. I would put our best OH across from Tuaniga, their 5'9" setter.
If both Hanson & Wookie are out tomorrow night I would have Minatee as an OH, let Kali block with Phoebe, and not take Grote away from her best position. How's that for mixing and matching? Shaff can work from the middle when she is front row giving Minatee gap sets and quicks and quick back 1s and 2s for Kali.

For a team that seems to be out of system 60% of the time on average, they need to figure out how to terminate. That is why Acevedo should be in the lineup. She, and a healthy Hanson are the only two who can take big swings out of system

Slightly relieved to see Michigan made USC play 5 too. Who knows maybe we sweep lol Michigan was up 11-5 in the 5th, and then USC went on a 10-1 run.
