I lean towards them just not having the talent on the roster to make those things a reality. Don’t really see anyone with any hitting range or out of system abilities on the roster outside of maybe Grote. The defense and passing suck. Need some more roster turnover and some impact additions over the next couple of years. I’m still somewhat skeptical of the coaching staff but will give it another 2 years before I cast any judgement there. Again, I lean towards it just being not having the necessary talent on the roster. I cannot agree that Minnesota, of all programs, doesn't have the talent/stable of hitters who don't know how to manage their offense. Something needs to happen in the practice gym because I'm seeing the same shot selection (either hard or a high tip) from many of the pins. Yes the passing and defense is suspect but in this set 4, I saw the passing at least getting the ball up for Mel who wasn't at her best but definitely not terrible. This was an absolute master class by Tuaniga. Her location, tempo and deception were next level. I agree the Minnesota pins need to do a lot more mixing it up but better set location can definitely help this. USC was tooling that outside hand all night. The hitting IQ was really good.

SC with the solid win today in 4, led by Batenhorst with 19 kills. Adonia and Livings also contributed nicely.

If we're shifting the conversation to Mia, yes she was very good tonight. Maybe the best I've seen her. I am not really a fan of her game but mama was dishing and setting the table like a good host should lol

Not to be "that person" but Christ, how much makeup is Batenhorst wearing? She's putting DeBeer to shame. You mean Sami Francis at Stanford. Always made up and ready for tv!

Ally just looks taller at USC. Maybe I’m not used to seeing her without sleeves everyone else is shorter compared to Nebraska as well Didn’t know or forgot 6’4” Batenhorst was Gatorade National PoY. She’s found some new life at USC.

Well, at least one USC team showed up against Minnesota after that debacle that Lincoln Riley turned in.

wow I was exhausted from work yesterday that I missed last nights match
but what a weekend for the women
rallying from behind (multiple times) against Michigan to pretty much dominating Minnesota (that .684 in the third set!!!)

.069 vs .684 was that the worst set of the year point wise? it felt like the worst shellacking point wise or anywise. I find it rather amazing that opponents let Crowl score on softballs Yes, we had a couple of 13's in set 4 the first weekend against Stanford and Texas. I did not find any worse sets going back to 2019, aside from the 3-15 against Nebraska in 2019.

USC is getting better every match. . . They have the best assistant coaches in the country…if the didn’t have the weight of Keller around their necks, they could challenge for a ff spot. . . but Keller will prevent that…

Acevedo disappeared this match Literally every single player for MN disappeared this match. Aside from Grote, yes. The sequence in set 3 where they hit into the block 4 straight times was something.

Players have a history of leaving Nebraska and performing better. I’m sure I’ll get a lot of hate for this, but it seems like players thrive with longer leashes.

If this makes any sense - a disappointing loss - due to the manner in which they lost, but the result - that they lost to a good USC team on the road - isn't that bad. Forget the blowout third set - that was gone pretty early; what really was disappointing was being close fairly far into the fourth set and then completely going away over the last third.
First trip out West in conference play. 1-1 isn't terrible, though the weekend seems to raise more questions than it answers. But Wucherer didn't play, and that's huge. You'd hope the Gophs would be deep enough to overcome that, but again, good opponent on the road, so simply losing is no big deal; being overwhelmed at times was a big deal.

Did someone ask the five who voted 3-1 correctly to stand up?
