The best way I can think of to describe Oregon this year is - kind of a toss up? It seems like you never know which team is going to show up and how they are going to gel together. They have some amazing pieces that, I think, if they all had great nights on the same night, would make Oregon a top 10 team. But it seems the pieces are sometimes out of sync and Onye, Mimi, Noemi don’t seem to all be all on top of their game during the same matches. We’ve managed to squeak out wins against almost everyone so far (except Pitt and PSU), but played poorly against Washington, dropped a set against Indiana, etc. The good news is that we usually have enough people playing well to win, so far. I think our serve receive is probably our weakest area and if we get into a slump with that, we at least need Mimi or Noemi to be on OOS. Hopefully Friday is a good, competitive match! I don’t know if the team is traveling tomorrow or Thursday, but the Wisconsin game is the first match rather than the second of the weekend, so that’s a positive.

Yeah. They should've just lost when they were behind 5 points in the 5th like Wisconsin did against Minnesota... UGH! Only the Big Ten could make me defend Oregon That Oregon made the comeback is, of course, to their credit. That they needed to make such a comeback vs Washington is the point. Washington is a much better team now that Kierstyn Barton is back. Barton lead Washington in kills in the Oregon match. She is a good player. She didn't play against Wisconsin, which is part of the reason that match was such a blowout. |

It's a top-of-the-conference matchup, and it's... not televised. It's just on B1G+. It's an odd decision. I mean both matches on BTN are eastern time zone too, so somebody has to start late when they could have just had a start time of 7PM for Madison. Are they contractually obligated to show x times of each Big Ten team? Rutgers was on 4 times in a row early on. |

I'm not interested in using transitive property here. Oregon is rightfully ranked a few positions back of us and this is a dangerous match. Wisconsin should be favored, but it's not a slam dunk.

I think Matt Ulmer is my favorite non-Badger coach. Not totally sure why. He just seems like an all-around great coach/person from the limited media on him that I've consumed. Also, I vaguely recall that there was a great Matt-Ulmer-as-Dr.-Strange meme that circulated at some point last year. (Apologies to non-Marvel fans for the obscure reference. big10 vs pac10 would have drawn alot of audiences. Terrible program organizer.
While I certainly can see the "value" in televising this match, I also often react by saying "Ugh, Nebraska again?!?" when I check the listings. So I can see that others might think "Ugh, Wisconsin again?!?" :-) BTN Plus is a moneymaking app forBTN. It would make sense to have an attractive game on its schedule to draw viewers.
