I know there are a lot of people who don't agree but the way Keegan has managed the Gophers this year has been amazing.
Pretty much anyone can step up at a good time...

Engemen arm swings are so fast! She went 4 on 4 tonight and only played in the second half of set 3.

She’s definitely making the most of her opportunities. Making a good case for more playing time if Minatee can’t get out of her slump. loved Engemans slide tonight, I think Minatee is maybe a better blocker, but loving having a 3rd option in the middle, especially one that is connecting well with Mel

I can't remember if I've ever posted this before but Sydney Schichles has a beautiful approach until she's actually leaving the ground. Girl can't jump. I feel like she might be third option on the right next year again behind Crowl and Gilk.

There’s still some deficiencies with the middles but it’s much improved as a position group compared to past seasons! Phoebe on a generational blocking run helps with that narrative.

..... NW is now 4-13.
You're supposed to look good against a team like that.
I'm pretty sure Minn has some high schools/club teams who could beat them, too.

It just blows my mind that such a thing could be paired up with this recruiting bio. How???
HIGH SCHOOL/CLUB: A 6-foot-4 outside/opposite hitter from Willmar, Minn. (Willmar Senior H.S.), Sydney Schnichels is a two-time Minnesota All-State selection, a three-time all-conference selection and a three-time first team all-area selection • the 2022 Minnesota Ms. Baden Award winner is Willmar High School's all-time career kills record holder • she also set her schools single-game kills record and holds the freshman, junior and senior records at Willmar for most kills in a season • the two-time CLC Conference Player of the Week was the 2022 Max Preps Minnesota Player of the Week (Sept. 5-11) • she's a 2023 Under Armour Next All-America game invitee and in November 2022, Sydney was named a First Team All-American by the AVCA • Schnichels ranks as the No. 20 overall player in the 2023 class by PrepVolleyball.com • she comes in as the No. 1 overall recruit in Minnesota and the No. 22 player in the country on PrepDig for the senior class and VBallRecruiter lists her as a five-star recruit • for her career at Willmar, she's tallied 1,324 kills (.288 hitting) with 170 blocks, 697 digs, 106 aces and 38 assists • as a senior, Schnichels registered 490 kills (.318) with 28 blocks, 232 digs, 51 aces and 28 assists • on the club circuit, she played for the JVA All-National Team and made the USAV GJNC 17-Open All-Tournament Team • she led her USAV GJNC-Open team to a silver medal in 2022 after leading the 16-Open team to a fifth-place finish in 2021 • in 2019, she played for the 14-Open team, helping them accomplish a bronze medal • Schnichels was also a USA Volleyball National Team Development program participant last year.

Aghhhh the Acevedo BR finally and its a whiff lol, okay time to experiment though hey Why not play her like Sydney and give her more time to warm up. Can’t judge a player off of one swing after sitting out for over an hour. One swing in 3 sets? Julia showed them why she should have played over Makenna last year but she was never given a chance. Why does Keegan still give Makenna a chance on her 3rd year when every OH on this team has more long term potential? Will Acevedo and Olivia transfer if they want to play next year? We were up by a lot and he still didn’t play the bench. I don’t have faith in Keegan’s choices, he kept Hanson in the shadows for 2 years when she’s obviously better talent than Wucherer. Will Acevedo want to be the next Hanson and be benched for another year for someone who hasn’t shown they can be elite?

Julia's freshman year was under Hugh lol, Keegan had her "in the shadows" only last year behind who was supposed to play like the reigning B1G POTY. Not defending, just correcting. I tend to agree, pull players sooner but I'm not that upset he was trying to get Wucherer going during a pretty easy W, especially returning from injury. I would tend to say Alex back 3 rotations and Wuchs front 3, but was pleasantly surprised with Wuchs swings back there tonight

Besides Wisconsin, Acevedo has had chances to start against Purdue, USC, and UCLA. Plus coming in against Penn State. I don't think she's being hid in the shadows. She's hitting .159 on the season. Wucherer is .182. Neither are setting the world on fire with their hitting numbers but Wucherer's ceiling offensively looks higher to me and she's a better blocker. I just want the best lineup from this roster on the floor. I don't think the coaching stuff should be or is worrying about transfers out of the program. Basically everyone is getting opportunities to play besides the two players who at this point are obviously redshirting.

I have BTN on but not focusing until Hanson's 12th kill to tie the second set at 12-12 Julia's body mechanics includes a spring: her back is arched behind her waist/hips Then her upper torso literally springs forward. She has incorporated training as a gymnast into a well integrated powerful swing. It's hard to find the words....explosive?
On the very next point Wookie had a dynamic back row attack, a great connection between she & Shaff When does a bic become a pipe? Good to see her unleash a bomb
I have the impression, given Wookie's body language from 2023 and her passing troubles early this season, her absence from competition, and her gingerly quality of movement off the Taraflex that she is still having 'issues'
I think her H% would rise 50 pts if she'd learn to disguise her off speed shots. Take a big swing, but downshift before you strike the ball. e.g. Madison Skinner scores first point for TX in set 5 vs Tx A&M.

Hanson’s court vision was other worldly tonight 🤯
The cheers for Gray were awesome after her serving run, she had some fantastic digs too
Nice to see backrow attack swings working for both Hanson and Wuchs, Wuchs also seems to be passing better lately
Engemen has gotten better and better each time we’ve seen her… Glad they’ll have her another year
I’m really enjoying sitting back and watching this Gopher team this season. They have their ups and downs but overall they’re winning the matches they should, clearly working on things and getting better and they’re probably the most cohesive team MN has had in years

The biggest thing putting Wuchs ahead IMO is her OOS swings, she’s far more efficient than Acevedo right now. Even though her hit pct is low she can really make the opposing team scramble. She’s also a solid floor leader, I don’t think MN does captains but I think she’d be one. I have no doubt Acevedo will get there though, she’s pushing hard to make her case and that’ll only make them both better

Totally agree. Alex also doesn't tip thus she's racking up more errors dinging her hitting %. I'd rather see her take risks as she develops as opposed to becoming a tipping machine. I think she's a better all around player than Wucherer right now as a Freshman. She has a better variety of shots and she's a better passer and server. I do think she has some work to do to catch up to Wucherer on blocking but that's about it. Alex definitely needs to get better being terminal OOS but let's be honest the only person taking out the trash efficiently right now is Julia!
