Seems weird to see such a low attendance figure 1325 and from the video it looks like most of the chairbacks are full. I was wondering if that attendance was accurate when I saw it. Empty blocks of seats saved for Washington, Western Michigan, and ND State that never sold? Did they really save THAT many tickets for the other 3 teams? Barely more than 1,000 at the Pav for a tournament match involving the Gophers doesn't seem right. Heck, we had over 4,000 in attendance watching the Gophers sweep Long Island on a Thursday night this year. That was 13 years ago. VB attendance has changed dramatically since then. Back then, Nebraska and Hawaii had great attendance. Most everyone else played to a lot of empty seats.

Some possibilities: 1) this was an interim year, with Laura Bush coaching. Mike Hebert had retired, and Hugh hadn’t yet joined (though he had agreed to). 2) ncaa tournaments count attendance differently… only sold tickets (no passlist or other free entries are counted). 3) bad weather? (No idea.. just throwing it out as a potential reason). My gut says that a “normal” Gopher tourney attendance in that timeframe should have been around 2000-2500.

In 2011, including three tournament matches, the Pav averaged 3,608 in attendance across 15 home games. So basically 3x as many as what was reported for the second round match against Washington. The record book goes back as far as 1994 for average attendance and even then, the Gophers were drawing an average of 1,527. We were ahead of the attendance curve 😎

If we can beat Oregon and go 6-2 hosting the first round should not be a problem If we tussle with Neb and Wi even a 3 seed is possible.
Oregon Washington was kind of a brawl i think with Ore and WA playing hot with high hitting %s But Washington has lost their 'Julia Hanson": K. Barton
Oregon will be the big test.

I so miss Washington's Vansant era. Strickland was also a fave. The 2013 regional final against USC was epic. Upon rewatch, I noticed former Minnesota assistant Kylin Munoz was on that squad! I loved watching Strickland play

Does anyone know the status of Wilmes? She's been out for a while, and with Barton in a boot, just curious on her timeline.

Does anyone know the status of Wilmes? She's been out for a while, and with Barton in a boot, just curious on her timeline. She's had concussion issues. Came out when C. Thompson was doing "color". This last match was wearing glasses, which she hadn't before. Might have been "tinted" (or limiting peripheral exposure?) - sensitivity to bright/flashing lights can be a concussion symptom. Would also explain why she wasn't in the arena for several matches.

So does anybody want to go to the game? My caretaker can't bring me so I have another seat... But I can't exactly drive myself.
Pros - Front row seats at a Gopher game, handicapped parking at whatever parking facility we choose Cons - You'd have to transport me to the game and back with my knee scooter
Shoot me a DM if you want to go, and if it works out you'll get to check out the game in person!

Seems unfair to schedule Oregon and Washington at home against Nebraska while sending both of them to Minnesota the same weekend. I know a nationwide conference will have scheduling issues, but this seems avoidable.

This week has already been bad enough. Please let at least one team I support win
