Paula was on a level I’d never seen in her first three years. She made watching a libero, a position I wasn’t really thinking I would like yet, fun and exciting; and she covered more court than anyone I’d ever seen up to that point. Paula was phenomenal. She played defense unlike anyone I had ever seen before and maybe since. She was also the most fragile volleyball player I have ever seen. Every time she left the court, she walked off with a massive limp, like she had just fractured her femur. Every time she made a dig, she somehow managed to sprain her wrist and get poked in the eye. It was like a comic sideshow, on top of the amazing ball control she provided. |

One of the great things about Gentil and Zartman was how different they were. Gentil stood at the 10 ft line and dug everything, often with her hands. Zartman was unbelievable quick and read hitters phenomenally.
