I don't agree with a lot of it, but their takes are rarely outrageously insultingly bad.
It helps grow the sport to have commentators, and it's ok if they have bad takes sometimes--football, basketball, this message board, etc has tons of them.
I have learned about a few players I didn't know about before listening to some of Michella Chester's takes.

I guess they help grow the sport, and they're easy to ignore online. What doesn't grow the sport is having TV color people who blather constantly. It ruins the entire experience and turns off more people than it attracts. Fans like us just mute Emily,Anna Connelly etc. but if you're a new viewer, wouldn't you just turn it off?

I just want big swings with these power rankings. Maybe I just don't understand the purpose of having so much inertia on a list like this when we already get that with the AVCA Coaches Poll. I look at other sports' "Power Rankings" and they are more about who is doing well right now, not two months ago. All-in-all these generate clicks and discussion so it's all good. I just want more chaos, especially in opinion lists

I just want more chaos, especially in opinion lists Yeah, this is how I feel. To me, power rankings are about momentum, and I'd love to see them be more dynamic week to week. We have so many polls already solely ranking the teams—this would be a great opportunity to highlight teams that are picking up speed.
People are going to hate whatever Michella Chester puts out there, so if I was her, I'd thrown in some chaotic picks and watch the comment section burn. |

I tnink a downside to match availability at an all time high, sometimes 5-6 matches on a single day, and almost all matches streamed is the sudden need for analysts. Knowledgeable, VB resumes, some name recognition.
I think the disconnect is lack of training in the job. Many are former players and coaches. Some like Chester, work all sports, not VB specific, and I know that factors in to my opinion of her. I just feel she is being sold as an expert.
Even the VB people know what is going on, has good thoughts, but don't know where,when and how to interject. 1st time I did radio I found myself talking over the play by play because I didn't have the training on how to condense my thoughts into a finite space. By the time I gathered what to say we were on to the next play.
Conferences and providers train ex players intensively before they go on the air in FB and BB. They should have training classes, workshops, and work with them to be successful in VB.
If they spend money on the product they should make it as professional as possible.

How does Penn state stay at 3? 🤣🤣🤣🤣 It was posted two hours ago lol Yeah...the only conclusion I draw from PSU's narrow escapes and WI's demolition of them is that PSU is still really good without any weaknesses. I mean...pin dependent allowing a team to hit over 400. Definitely still superior. 🙄 |
