Man it sure would be nice to have a pin or a middle on our bench to change things up and help out our struggling players! We quite literally have 0 front row depth. We’ve had depth all year, inpaign, but the idea of “changing things up” at this stage is unrealistic, almost laughable. This team has had its ups and downs, but the notion that players outside the core six would get meaningful playing time doesn’t align with how the roster has been managed this season. The strategy has been clear: stick with the starters, for better or worse, no matter how well or poorly they might perform on a given day. While depth may exist on paper, it hasn’t translated to real opportunities for anyone. There are no other teams in the B1G who have taken this approach and probably for good reason. D.E.V.E.L.O.P.M.E.N.T. Substitutions simply aren’t part of the approach unless absolutely necessary, as we’ve seen with Mosher, who has now been so overplayed as setter/hitter that she’s reduced her lethal serves to lollipop serves. Even if the bench players were fully healthy, it’s hard to believe their availability would have significantly altered game outcomes. After 96 straight sets of relying exclusively on the starters, there’s no indication that any meaningful rotation would happen—there is zero risk of subs and players know it - poor performance and all. Let’s get that bench healthy but don’t hold your breath for any subs this season. These 6 will make or break our season. Depth/health is irrelevant at this point. |

Why isn’t Kenna Wollard playing? Carr has given Purdue a much more consistent offensive threat at OPP in the last few matches. Lizzie is killing it. Her confidence is growing every match. A couple pretty mean swings tonight. More please. 😎 Also, can I fawn over Eva Hudson for a minute? Man, she was impressive tonight. Just relentless power. But barely seemed to break a sweat. Not sure she has a legit shot at NPoY, but WOW, what a player. And what a season she’s having. 🔥 |
