Bummer. Well, looks like our roster still needs a little more experience.
Hopefully we will see Omaha again in the semifinals!
I don’t know if the Jacks are an at-large team, but the Summit should at least have two or three in the NIVC. Four teams above #150 RPI

New attendance record, at least. 2810. That’s like 23% of Verm! (I mean I realize that’s SDSU fans too, but I just mean from a crowd size vs town size.)

Yeah, there was a good number of blue fans there for a road match. I'll estimate there was around 15% blue? That would still be about 2,400 red (it may have looked like more blue on the broadcast because it only showed the south side of the arena). That's actually a good point. Mid majors like this usually rely on a dedicated local group of fans that attend all the games, then you will see a larger crowd for big games, drawn from farther away. In the case of Vermillion vs Brookings (USD vs SDSU) the city is about 12,000 vs 24,000. undergraduate populations 7400 vs 9700. We actually keep up with SDSU in average attendance for Volleyball, Men's Basketball and Women's basketball, averaging around 1400, 2000 and 2000 per game. But Football is another story, they more than double our attendance. The biggest prize as far as fans is Sioux Falls, metro population about 290,000. Brookings is 45 min away, Vermillion 60 minutes. But that's not the whole story. Since they went D-1 a decade earlier, they grabbed the attention of all the casual fans, locally. So Sioux Falls may have a 60-40 split via number of alumni of the two schools, but fan enthusiasm-wise, it is more like 90-10. You see that at the Summit League Tournament attendance. And this year the leader in VB attendance will now be Brookings, after Vermillion leading for almost a decade.... *sigh* I have to tell myself it's good for the league....
