I need to sleep. Will be hard after that.
Cook knows what he is doing. The gophers served and hit very well. The badgers started slow, got on track and then just became undone in the second. It took em a bit to put themselves back together, but they improved progressively on D and on O and bulled through it in the end.

Maybe not quite a legitimate dark horse to win it all, but Minny is one that most ranked teams will not want to see on their bracket. What a fun match. Keegan Cook really has his girls playing as a team.

Nice match. Too bad for MN; kudos WI. MN has to be the best 10-loss team, right? Lol.
MN could (not WILL, but could) be a real wild card in the tournament. Their high is high, their low is low, so we'll see.

i honestly thought she received well tonight but granted i was multitasking and tuned out for chunks of the game They had to hide her in SR by the end. They didn’t have to hide her, they chose to take her seams away after a rough stretch in set 3. By and large her passing was good - I’d be willing to bet by the numbers nearly as good as Orzol’s or Franklin’s who by the way had some forgettable moments in SR as well tonight. This after probably passing north of a 2.5 against UCLA. I thought her d was good, she had some monster digs at big moments, hitter coverage was pretty solid and she seemed to be reading well. Serving not so much. It takes a while to really gel beside someone in SR re: seams and this is basically her second game doing it, cut her some slack. The 2 libero experiment early on this year did none of the littles any favors and circumstances favored Lola but I’d be totally comfortable if Saige were the only option the rest of the way

But I’ll meet you at “moderately optimistic”. It’s nice to have options.

I gave my sweet soul dog her last cuddles while watching one of our favorite movies this morning, so I am thoroughly numbed for any potential Badger-inflicted pain tonight. All I ask is the pain not be Gopher-inflicted and that we don't totally flop. Look respectable out there like sets 2-4 in Lincoln. Go Gophs! So sorry to hear about your sweet girl, what was your favorite movie to watch together? ♥️ I picked LOTR return of the king for maximum cuddle duration. She loved anything with dogs in it but not long after rescuing her I found out she likes orcs too lol I'm sooooo glad the Gophers didn't flop on a big stage. Some missed opportunities and an L but nothing to hang their heads about, imo. Promising stuff to see as a fan two weeks from the tournament. WA/OR week had me questioning if the ceiling collapsed, but even though we've taken two more losses since, at least we looked competitive against two teams playing for a regional seed on THEIR courts. Now to turn the road games into wins because that's what it will take in December.

Saige made a lot of clutch plays at big moments. And for the most part she did well in serve receive (which, as said above, is a challenge whenever a new player is inserted into SR). But her second-ball bump sets were often poor (really inaccurate on what should have been easy to put up a nice hittable ball). If Lola is still out on Saturday, Nebby would be smart to push their free balls to Charlie to make Saige bump set the second ball. And Saige's five SEs (including at 22-23 in the third set) hurt.
Stat of the day... The Badgers had just 7 blocks through the first four sets, but had 6 blocks in the fifth. In fact, their first block in the fifth was at 10-9. With there being 213 total points scored in the match, that means the Badgers had: - 7 blocks in the first 194 points
- 6 blocks in the last 19 points

How anyone can equate being totally comfortable in two weeks with her overall performance from last night. Yes she had some absolutely amazing digs as well but those OOS sets... yuck.

How anyone can equate being totally comfortable in two weeks with her overall performance from last night. Yes she had some absolutely amazing digs as well. Yeah, Lola's presence is certainly missed. Her all-around game as a libero is what stabilizes Wisconsin. Her serving, her passing, her digging, her OOS setting aren't elite individually, but they're all certainly good. She also, as others have mentioned, seems to have a short attention span in relation to prior play. She can shank a ball and make pass a 3 immediately after. Saige last night seemed to get worse in serve receive as the night went on, and while she made some great digs at the very end, she seemed to lose confidence in the block toward the middle of the match and was often in the wrong place. I haven't seen Lola do that, even in her bad matches. She doesn't read perfectly yet but she seems to stick well to the game plan and ends up in the right spot often enough

Yes, but GG can help with the OOS sets, at least
