being a college coach these days has to be wild. a day after your season ends you get 3-4 emails with just a peace sign emoji (that is if you didn't catch their tiktok of them cleaning our their locker absolutely flaming the program).

This thread is helpful. What qualifies as 'Big' names is very much subjective, but this thread could at least cut through with the more impact type transfers (in theory).

So the two Hawai'i names don't count as "big?"

So the two Hawai'i names don't count as "big?" Probably don't want the thread locked. LOL

being a college coach these days has to be wild. a day after your season ends you get 3-4 emails with just a peace sign emoji (that is if you didn't catch their tiktok of them cleaning our their locker absolutely flaming the program). Saban of Alabama football and Jay Wright Of Villanova Basketball both said this NIL madness contributed to them leaving their positions. They both have commented that now every off season you have to re recruit your own players to get them to stay. It must be exhausting. And those coaches have to do it even though they’re barely scraping by on their salaries 😑. It’s no fun I would imagine and it can certainly be argued that NIL has contributed mightily to tip the scales even further in favour of certain programs, however it’s hard to feel too badly for them having to deal with it. Before the hate, I am well aware they didn’t speak out to gain sympathy and just wanted to give some insight on the affect it has had. The athletes are finally allowed to be compensated for their contribution towards revenues earned and it’s probably way better in the open rather than having to deal with some alumnus in a van down by the river. Anytime something newer comes in it won’t be perfect … not even close. But hopefully that newer thing evolves into a form much better than it’s original version. I do not pretend to know any answers but I’m sure there are many of you, with great experience in this game, that would be able to suggest some tweaks. And before you suggest a self-swirly, I ain’t doing that.
