Did anyone make it to the Pyramid for the Long Beach open tournament? There were some old D1 players there that put on a show compared to the rest of the field. In the playoffs there were some solid teams. There was a team of 49er alumni, gaucho alumni, and a few from san diego. Those guys still had some good v-ball left in them. They seemed a little out of shape but their knowledge for the game still seemed to beat the younger guys. The 49er redshirts lost to the alumni. The old guys still had some unbelievable power when they hit.

One of the OH's and the OPP on the redshirt team normally play Libero and the setter is a utility player - he has played every position on the court for Long Beach. Only three players were playing in their normal spots - one of the OH's and the MB's. The setter and OPP are not redshirts this year, but all the rest of them are. I think the score against the alum was 15-13, so not too shabby. They also had to play with 5 players for a while, when Kevin got hurt early in the game. At some point, an OH/OPP from the current team came and filled in as at MB for Kevin.
Andy Rivera was setting for the Gaucho Alumni.

I think Britt Galang was setting and Andy Riviera was the outside hitter. I could be mistaken though.

My bad! Andy is an OH - I know for sure he played Sunday.

Why is he not playing in Europe or something like that. He seemed to be really good. I don't remember him playing against the 49ers in recent history. Did he do well in college? cause he hits pretty hard to not be playing.
