Former MTSU and UNA coach Matt Peck has passed away.

He had been battling cancer for many years.

I'm sorry for Matt's friends and family. He was always an interesting person to talk with and fun to compete against.

I remember meeting Matt many years ago at a spring tournament. They really had it going on at MTSU and we're coming off a really good year. We were good, too, but I didn't know much about his team or how they played. They damn near blew the doors off us and pushed us around in a way we weren't used to. I always appreciated how hard and how aggressive those teams played.

Sad to hear about his passing. not many coaches get to say they were a national champion, but coach Peck could. I don't think we will see a team like what he did at MT make a sweet 16 again with how the landscape is set out today.
