So, for better or for worse, the Novas essentially got their way?

I wonder if other teams were getting ready to jump, so league decided to essentially fold up

So, for better or for worse, the Novas essentially got their way? Not necessarily. The leaks mention the DeVoses putting in money, and mention multiple former Omaha/MLV backers, but not Danny White… which means it’s more like, they bought out Danny White and then took a new name for the league as a “reset”. Being discussed more in the PVF 2025 thread for now.

The Vegas Thrill are folding? They were being propped up by the Omaha owners. If they bought out Omaha they also bought out Omaha’s stake in Vegas and now 100% own Vegas. If the goal is for PVF/MLV to have all independently owned/operated teams, closing Vegas and launching Dallas is +1 new team owner immediately.

Mergers were inevitable. There's no way America was going to sustain that many professional teams.

I think it's hard to call something a "merger" when one of the leagues never even played a match.

How do you merge with something that doesn't exist? There is a corporate concept of a “merger in name only” where one entity outright buys and takes control of another but it’s presented as a “merger” publicly for reasons. This is just literally a merger in name, only.

Damn so the Thrill are a casualty of the "merger" I think looking back at all the information the Thrill were never really alive as a franchise, their financial backing didn't materialize, the Novas (e.g. Danny White) financially backed them instead to keep them in so that PVF had enough teams to play the inaugural season, and they never got in a position where once that resolved they could stand on their own.

I wonder if A. Glass will continue playing now and where some of the younger, more exciting players will go?
